Switching Roles of Primary and DR Instances
Scenarios
If the primary and DR regions and primary and DR instances are normal, you can log in to either the primary instance or DR instance to switch their roles. This section describes how to switch roles of primary and DR instances.
Prerequisites
- A DR relationship has been established.
- If the DB engine version is V2.0-8.102 or later, the primary and DR instances must both be in the Available state. If the version is earlier than V2.0-8.102, all nodes of the primary and DR instances must be in the Available state.
- No task is being executed on both the primary and DR instances.
- The primary instance is not in the Caching logs state. (On the Disaster Recovery page, the Disable Log Cache button does not appear in the Operation column for the primary instance.)
- No logs are accumulated. During a DR switchover, the RPO is less than 10 seconds, and the RTO is less than 1 second.
Constraints
- During a switchover, backup, restoration, and instance upgrade operations on the console are temporarily disabled for the affected instances. These functions become available again after the switchover is complete.
Procedure
- Log in to the console and select the region where the primary or DR instance is located.
- In the navigation pane on the left, choose Disaster Recovery. On the displayed page, locate the desired DR task and click Switch Roles in the Operation column.
- In the dialog box that is displayed, confirm related information.
- Select Switch roles and click OK.
