Function Overview

You can categorize audio and video files so that you can quickly find them by category.

You can add up to 128 categories.

You can add up to three levels of subcategories.

If no category is set, the uploaded media files fall into the Other category by default.

You can transcode a media file during or after upload using one of the four system templates or a custom template.

You can create a workflow to transcode and package media files, take snapshots, and extract audio. All tasks in the workflow are executed at the same time, accelerating media processing.

VOD sends notification messages to notify you of the execution status of tasks such as transcoding and snapshot capturing in real time. SMN charges you for notification messages.

You can upload an image and position it wherever you want your watermark to appear on your video.

You can configure HTTPS secure acceleration to protect your VOD resources.  If you use your own domain name for VOD acceleration, you must enable HTTPS. Otherwise, you cannot preview and play media files on the VOD console.

VOD provides referer validation, and URL validation to identify and filter out malicious visitors. Only authenticated visitors can use VOD.

URL validation: Both ingest and streaming URLs can be validated. You can customize the authentication key and expiration time and use multiple authentication algorithms provided by VOD.
Referer validation: You can configure a referer blacklist or whitelist to identify and filter out malicious visitors.

The data analysis function of VOD allows you to query data such as the traffic, bandwidth, and traffic hit ratio on CDN, and to query the number of playback times and ranking (by playback times) of media files by domain name.

VOD provides REST APIs that support HTTP/HTTPS methods. You can call these APIs to uploading audio and video, transcoding, categorizing, and managing VOD resources.
