Overview

In the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) process, the infrastructure resource-oriented management approach can cause problems such as data isolation and information inconsistency between O&M services. The resource management function of COC enables central management of core resources of Huawei Cloud, IDCs, and other clouds. It quickly provides accurate and consistent resource configuration data for features such as change management and batch O&M.

COC leverages the following mechanisms to implement unified resource management:

  • Resource discovery and identification: COC can automatically discover and identify resources of Huawei Cloud, peer vendor clouds, and IDCs, and manage them centrally.
  • Resource monitoring and management: Through a unified monitoring page, O&M engineers monitor resource usage in real time and dynamically adjust resource usage.
  • Data synchronization and consistency: COC supports data synchronization to ensure data consistency and accuracy between O&M services.

Usage Process

Figure 1 Resource management process
  1. Synchronize resources: Upon your first login to COC and successful authorization, Huawei Cloud resources will be automatically synchronized.
  2. Manage resources: By entering a multi-cloud account and a key, you can access multi-cloud data sources with ease. After an account is added, you need to manually synchronize resources to synchronize existing resources of the current account.
    • Management of other cloud vendors' resources: lets you configure accounts for other cloud vendors on COC and synchronize their resources. This simplifies resource management across multiple clouds.
    • IDC resource management: provides all-scenario resource management capabilities, supports management of cloud resources and on-premises devices, and centrally manages on-premises PMs, VMs, and middleware on Huawei Cloud.
    • Cross-account resource management: enables you to perform unified and automatic O&M on resources of other accounts in an organization. This prevents manpower waste caused by multi-account operations and reduces risks such as omission caused by manual operations.
  3. (Optional) Install UniAgent: Batch install UniAgent on ECSs to use the O&M function.
  4. Manage resources: such as adding resource tags, adding enterprise projects to My Favorites, viewing resource topologies, and viewing resource details. For details, see Adding a Resource Tag, Viewing the Resources of Enterprise Projects Added to My Favorites, Viewing Resource Topologies, and Viewing Resource Details on the Resource Management Page.
