Capacity calculator

The capacity calculator provides a guided way to plan vault capacity. It removes the need for complex formulas or experience-based estimates. Enter the total resource size, utilization, annual growth rate, daily change rate, and select an existing backup retention rule on the console. The system then shows the calculation steps and formulas and generates the required vault capacity. This helps prevent resource waste or insufficient backup space and makes capacity planning more accurate and efficient.

Cloud server backups available for use within seconds in an AZ

Cloud server backups are now available for use within seconds in the same AZ. After a backup starts, its status quickly changes to Creating (available in the AZ). You can restore data or create images in that AZ immediately, without waiting for the backup to complete. This reduces recovery time from hours to seconds. This capability is ideal for core services with strict recovery time objective (RTO) requirements. When data is accidentally deleted, affected by viruses, or hardware fails, services can be restored quickly to minimize downtime. This feature is enabled by default. New backups become available automatically. You can view their status in the backup list and perform restore operations as needed.

Continue Backup When Yearly/Monthly Vault Capacity Is Insufficient

Yearly/Monthly vaults now support continuing backups even when storage capacity is insufficient. This prevents backup failures for critical data and enhances overall backup resilience.
For user convenience, you can enable the Continue Backup If Vault Is Full option directly on the purchase page when creating a vault. This ensures that backups proceed smoothly without being interrupted by capacity limits, improving both data security and configuration experience. If the option was not enabled during vault creation, you can still activate it later on the vault details page.

Backup Locking

To prevent the backup data from being deleted by mistake or maliciously, you can enable backup locking for vaults to improve data security. Once enabled, all backups in the vault enter the WORM (write once, read many) status. No one can delete the backups that are in their retention periods.
