Overview

Alarm management includes alarm data collection, alarm aggregation, alarm-to-incident operations, and alarm trigger rule configuration.

Core Features

  • Integrating data sources to generate raw alarms: This function can integrate multiple existing or third-party monitoring systems (such as Cloud Eye, AOM, and Prometheus) and collect scattered alarm data from services to generate raw alarms. You can enable or disable existing alarm data sources or connect to third-party monitoring systems on the Data Sources page.
  • Generating aggregated alarms based on alarm conversion rules: You can set alarm conversion rules to deduplicate or group multiple raw alarms into an aggregated alarm.
  • Handling aggregated alarms and restoring resources and applications: You can convert aggregated alarms to incident tickets, or execute scripts and jobs to clear the alarms. After that, the system automatically notifies related owners. Aggregated alarms can avoid duplicated alarms and alarm storms, improving alarm clearance efficiency.

Note: The initial aggregated alarm is an active alarm. After you handle the aggregated alarm, convert it to an incident, or clear the alarm, it will be moved to the historical alarm list.

Concepts

Before using alarm management, you are advised to understand the following basic concepts to help you quickly get started.

Table 1 Concepts

Concept

Description

Raw alarm

Raw alarms are generated by multiple existing or third-party monitoring systems (such as Cloud Eye, AOM, and Prometheus) that collect scattered service alarms.

Aggregated alarm

You can set alarm conversion rules to combine multiple raw alarms that match a specific rule into one alarm, which is called an aggregated alarm.

Active alarm

Active alarms are alarms that have not yet been cleared. Aggregated alarms remain active until they are resolved, at which point they transition to an inactive state.

Historical alarm

Historical alarms are cleared aggregated alarms. After an aggregated alarm is cleared, you can view its information and handling records on the Historical Alarms page.
