Configuring SLOs

In the cloud O&M and business system management scenarios, the O&M team often struggle with the absence of quantifiable service quality standards, making it difficult to assess incident impact or justify resource allocation. This frequently leads to delayed detection of service degradation and misalignment on stability objectives across teams. To address this, SLOs should be established for critical business systems, defining measurable thresholds for key metrics such as availability, response latency, and MTTR. This can convert the service quality from fuzzy perception to measurable standards, align the objectives of technical and service teams, and provide early warnings for service exceptions. In addition, it provides data basis for fault severity classification, and resource allocation, eliminates the blindness of experience-based O&M, effectively reduces service interruption risks, and ensures service continuity.

Prerequisites

You have enabled the fault management package. For details about billing, see Billing Items.

Creating an SLO

You can configure an SLO based on service requirements and view the configured SLO, including the configured Service Level Indicator (SLI) and SLO interruption records.

  1. Log in to COC.
  2. In the navigation pane, choose Basic Configurations > SLO Management.
  3. Click Create SLO in the upper right corner. The dialog box for creating an SLO is displayed.
  4. Set SLO creation parameters by referring to Table 1.

    Description

    Application

Select an application from the drop-down list.

After an SLO is created, the application cannot be modified.

If no application is available, click Create to create an application.

    SLO

Enter the SLO value, in percentage (%).

  5. Click OK.

After an SLO is created, you can set SLI metrics and set SLO metrics.

Modifying an SLO

  1. Log in to COC.
  2. In the navigation pane, choose Basic Configurations > SLO Management.
  3. Locate the SLO you want to modify and choose More > Modify in the Operation column. The dialog box for modifying the SLO is displayed.
  4. In the dialog box that is displayed, modify the SLO target value.
  5. Click OK.

Deleting an SLO
