Deleting a Read Replica
Scenarios
You can delete pay-per-use read replicas to release resources. To delete read replicas billed on a yearly/monthly basis, you must unsubscribe from the order first.
Constraints
- RDS does not move read replicas to the recycle bin. Only primary/standby and single-node instances can be moved to the recycle bin.
- Once you submit a deletion or unsubscription request, resources and data will be deleted and cannot be retrieved.
- A read replica cannot be deleted or unsubscribed when any operations are being performed on it. You can delete or unsubscribe from it only after the operations are complete.
- If a pay-per-use read replica is deleted, you will no longer be billed for it.
- Read replicas with deletion protection enabled cannot be deleted. To delete such read replicas, disable deletion protection first (using an account that has the permission to disable this function).
Procedure
- Log in to the RDS console.
- Click
in the upper left corner and select a region. - On the Instances page, locate the target instance and click
in front of its name. All the read replicas created for this instance are displayed. - Locate the target read replica and choose More > Delete in the Operation column.
- In the displayed dialog box, enter DELETE and click OK.
- Refresh the instance list later to check that the deletion is successful.
