Assigning Desktops

Scenario

Assign an idle desktop to a user on the console.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the console.
  1. In the navigation pane, choose Desktops > Desktops.

    The Desktops page is displayed.

Assigning one desktop to a user

  1. Select a single-user or multi-user desktop with the Unassigned tag in the Desktop User column. Click Unassigned, or click More > Assign Desktop in the Operation column.
  2. On the page displayed, select Select User or Create User as required. See Table 1.

    • The username is used for user authentication during desktop login.

      Naming rules:

      • A name can contain 1 to 20 characters.
      • A digit-only name is allowed.
      • A name can contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, periods (.), hyphens (-), and underscores (_), and must start with a lowercase letter or uppercase letter.
      • This field cannot be left blank.
    • The email address is used to receive desktop provisioning emails and related notifications.

      Email address verification rules:

      • Enter a valid email address through system verification.
      • The value can contain a maximum of 64 characters.
      • This field cannot be left blank.
    • The mobile number is used to receive desktop provisioning emails and related notifications.
      Mobile number verification rules:
      • [+][Country/Region code][Mobile number]
      • For a mobile number of your country/region, you can omit [+][Country/Region code] and directly enter the mobile number.
      • A mobile number can contain spaces, slashes (/), and hyphens (-).
    • Configure User Info, Description, and Account Expiration.
    • Click Add user.
      NOTE:

      Enter an email address or a mobile number, or both.

    Create User > By administrators for User Activation and Manually for User Import

    • The username is used for user authentication during desktop login.

      Naming rules:

      • A name can contain 1 to 20 characters.
      • A digit-only name is allowed.
      • A name can contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, periods (.), hyphens (-), and underscores (_), and must start with a lowercase letter or uppercase letter.
      • This field cannot be left blank.
    • The initial password is used to authenticate the first login to a desktop. Keep the initial password secure.
      • The password contains 8 to 32 characters.
      • The value can contain uppercase letters, lowercase letters, digits, and special characters !@$%^-_=+[{}]:,./?
      • The password cannot be the username or the reverse username.
        NOTE:

        If your tenant connects to an AD domain, By administrators is unavailable by default.

    Create User > By administrators for User Activation and Batch for User Import

    Upload the user information recorded in the table and create users in batches.

    1. Click Download Template on the right of Import user information to download the user list template.
    2. Enter the serial number, username, email address, mobile number, expiration time, and description in the table as required.
    3. Click Upload to upload the user list that has been filled in as required.
    4. Click Confirm creation.
    NOTE:

    The size of the file (only .xlsx and .xls are allowed) to be uploaded cannot exceed 1 MB. A maximum of 200 records can be uploaded at a time.

    Create User > By users for User Activation and Batch for User Import

    Upload the user information recorded in the table and create users in batches.

  3. Click Next. The desktop configuration page is displayed.

    NOTE:

    If the original image does not exist or has been deleted, select a public or private image. If there are resource changes, you will be charged the configuration fee and image fee.

  4. Select a naming rule.

    NOTE:

    To create a naming rule, create a desktop rule by referring to Desktop Naming Rules.

  5. Confirm the user(s) to whom desktops are assigned.

    • For single-user desktops, perform 8 to 9.
    • For multi-user desktops, perform 10.

  6. Click OK. A confirmation dialog box is displayed.
  7. To agree to the assignment, enter Agree and click OK.
  8. Click OK.

    NOTE:

    Desktop assignment will clear the existing disk data and the data cannot be restored.

Assigning desktops to users in batches

  1. Select a desktop with the Unassigned tag in the Desktop User column. Click More in the upper left corner and choose Assign Desktop.

    NOTE:

    You can select either Windows or Linux desktops at a time to perform subsequent operations.

  2. Confirm the desktop assignment and click Next: Select User. The Select User and Assignment Mode page is displayed.
  3. Select the desired user(s) or user group(s) and set the permission group.

    • Permission Group
      • Administrator group: Users in this group have system administrator permissions, that is, full permissions on a computer. They can perform all management tasks, including managing all users, on the computer.
      • Common user group: Users in this group have basic operation permissions on a computer, for example, running applications, but cannot modify the OS settings or data of other users.
        NOTE:

        You can click Batch Settings to set user or user group permissions in batches.

  4. Configure the assignment mode.

    • Assigned By
      • If User (group) is selected, perform 15, and 19 to 20.
      • If Desktop is selected, perform 16 to 20.

  5. Select User (group) for Assigned By, enter a number for Assigned Quantity (x desktops are automatically assigned to each user), and click Preview.

    NOTE:
    • If there are fewer selected desktops than selected users, some users will not have desktops assigned.
    • 1 to 10 desktops can be automatically assigned to each user.

  1. Select Desktop for Assigned By and enter a number for Assigned Quantity (x desktops are automatically assigned to each user).
  2. Select a naming rule.

    NOTE:

    To create a naming rule, create a desktop rule by referring to Desktop Naming Rules.

  3. Click Preview.
  4. Click Confirm. A confirmation dialog box is displayed.
  5. To agree to the assignment, enter Agree and click OK.
