Managing LakeFormation Databases

You can view, modify, authorize, and delete LakeFormation databases, and view tables in the databases.

You have created a database. For details, see Creating a Database.

Log in to the LakeFormation console.
Select the LakeFormation instance to be operated from the drop-down list on the left and choose Metadata > Database in the navigation pane.
Select a catalog from the Catalog drop-down list box in the upper right corner. View the databases contained in this catalog.

Perform the following operations on a database.

In the database list, click the name of the database to be viewed to view its details.

In the database list, locate a database and click Table in the Operation column to view the tables in the database.

Method 1: In the database list, locate a database and click Modify in the Operation column. On the displayed page, configure parameters and click Submit.
Method 2: In the database list, click the name of the database to be modified, click Edit. On the displayed page, configure parameters and click Submit.

The database name, catalog, and storage location cannot be modified.

In the database list, locate a database and click View Permissions in the Operation column to view the existing permissions of the database.

Method 1: In the database list, locate a database and click Authorize in the Operation column. In the displayed dialog box, configure the entity type, object to be authorized, operation type.
Method 2: In the database list, locate a database and click View Permissions in the Operation column. On the displayed page, click Authorize to authorize the database.

In the database list, locate a database and click Delete in the Operation column.
In the displayed dialog box, confirm the operation impact and whether to delete other data. Then, click OK.
- Delete tables and functions in the database: If the current database contains undeleted data tables or functions, you must select this option. Otherwise, an error will occur. Deleted data cannot be restored.
- (Optional) Delete the data stored in OBS: The deleted data is stored in the recycle bin and can be restored before it expires.
- If files are also deleted when metadata is deleted, the metadata is moved to the recycle bin (OBS path lake-formation-trash-dir/table_id) of the corresponding OBS bucket.
