Unsubscriptions from Active Resource Packages

If you unsubscribe from a resource package that was purchased more than five days ago or is currently in use, you will be billed for how much you have already used it and also for some handling fees.

Unsubscription Rules

  • Partial refunds will be calculated based on paid amounts. Any used cash coupons will not be returned.
  • If the calculated refund is less than 0, no refund will be issued.
  • KooGallery resource packages cannot be unsubscribed from.

Calculation of Refund

Refund = Paid amount – Consumed amount – Unsubscription handling fee

  • Paid amount refers to the amount you actually paid with your cash account, flexi-purchase coupons, and stored value cards, excluding any payment in cash coupons.
  • Consumed amount: The rules for calculating the consumed amount vary depending on how the package is used (resettable or non-resettable), as described in the following table.
    Table 1 Rules for calculating the consumed amount:

    Type

    Description

    Reset Period

    Consumed Amount Calculation

    Resettable packages

    The capacity of resettable resource packages decreases linearly. These packages are reset at each reset period until they expire.

    Hourly

    By usage duration: Consumed amount = Actual payment x (Actual usage duration/Order duration)

    • Order duration: calculated from the hour when the order takes effect. For example, if you purchase a resource package at 10:30, the order duration starts from 10:00.
    • Actual usage duration: rounded up to the end of the hour in which the unsubscription occurs. For example, if you unsubscribe from a resource package at 18:40, the actual usage duration will be considered to have ended at 19:00.

      Example: If you purchased an hourly-reset monthly resource package at 10:30:00 on January 01, 2024, and it expired at 23:59:59 on February 01, 2024, then the order duration was 31 days and 14 hours (from 10:00:00 on January 01, 2024 to 00:00:00 on February 02, 2024). If you unsubscribed from the resource package at 18:40:00 on January 15, 2024, then the actual usage duration was 14 days and 9 hours (from January 01, 2024 10:00:00 to January 15, 2024 19:00:00).

    Daily

    By usage duration: Consumed amount = Actual payment x (Actual usage duration/Order duration)

    • Order duration: calculated from the hour when the order takes effect. For example, if you purchase a resource package at 10:30, the order duration starts from 10:00.
    • Actual usage duration: calculated based on 24:00 on the unsubscription day. For example, if you unsubscribe from a resource package at 18:40, the actual usage duration will be considered to have ended at 24:00.

      Example: If you purchased a daily-reset monthly resource package at 10:30:00 on January 01, 2024, and it expired at 23:59:59 on February 01, 2024, then the order duration was 31 days and 14 hours (from 10:00:00 on January 01, 2024 to 00:00:00 on February 02, 2024). If you unsubscribed from the resource package at 18:40:00 on January 15, 2024, then the actual usage duration was 14 days and 14 hours (from January 01, 2024 10:00:00 to January 15, 2024 24:00:00).

    Monthly

    No refunds are available for previous months. The current month's consumed amount is calculated based on your actual usage. A full refund is provided for any months where the resource package is still inactive.

    Example: You purchased a yearly resource package (monthly resettable) in January 2024 and canceled the subscription in March 2024. As January and February are past months, no refund is provided. Since April to December is a future period where the resource package has not yet been applied, a full refund is provided. For March, the consumed amount is calculated based on your actual usage.

    Yearly

    No refunds are available for previous years. The current year's consumed amount is calculated based on your actual usage. A full refund is provided for any years where the resource package is still inactive.

    Example: You purchased a 3-year resource package (yearly resettable) in January 2023 and canceled the subscription in March 2024. As the year 2023 is a past year, no refund is provided. Since the year 2025 is a future year where the resource package has not yet been applied, a full refund is provided. For the year 2024, the consumed amount is calculated based on your actual usage.

    Non-resettable packages

    The capacity of a non-resettable package decreases at a continuous, linear rate until it is fully consumed or expires.

    -

    By usage: Consumed amount = Actual payment x (Used quota/Total quota)

    • Used quota: The quota of a resource package that has been used when you initiate an unsubscription. For example, if you use 500 GB of a data package, your used quota is 500 GB.
    • Total quota: The total quota of the resource package. For example, if the specification of a data package is 1,000 GB/year, the total quota is 1,000 GB.

    If you unsubscribe from a dedicated resource package in a solution, you will be billed for the consumed amount based on how much you have already used it.

  • Unsubscription handling fee includes the handling fees for the cash account and flexi-purchase coupons. The handling fee depends on the actual usage duration and subscription term, as shown in the table below.

Billing Examples

  • Example 1: If you unsubscribe from a daily-reset resource package, you will be billed for the consumed amount based on how much you have already used it.

    Suppose you purchased a monthly OBS package at 10:30:00 on January 01, 2024, and the storage capacity resets daily. The package expired at 23:59:59 on February 01, 2024. The order duration was 31 days and 14 hours (from 10:00:00 on January 01, 2024 to 00:00:00 on February 02, 2024). The paid amount was $120.00 USD. If you unsubscribed from the resource package at 18:40:00 on January 15, 2024, then the actual usage duration was 14 days and 14 hours (from January 01, 2024 10:00:00 to January 15, 2024 24:00:00).

    Consumed amount = (Actual usage duration/Order duration x Paid amount) = (14 days and 14 hours/31 days and 14 hours x $120.00 USD) ≈ $55.41 USD

    Handling fee = Paid amount x 10% = $120.00 USD x 0.1 = $12.00 USD

    Refund = Paid amount – Consumed amount – Handling fee = $120.00 USD – $55.41 USD – $12.00 USD ≈ $52.59 USD

  • Example 2: For a monthly-reset resource package, no refund is provided for the past months; the current month's consumed amount is calculated based on your actual usage; a full refund is provided for future months that have not yet started.

    On January 01, 2026, you purchased 1-year monthly-reset SMS package, with 5,000 messages per month. The paid amount was $400.00 USD. On February 15, 2026, you unsubscribed from the SMS package. You used 3,600 messages in January and 2,700 messages in February.

    Consumed amount = January's expenditure ($400 USD/12 months) + February's expenditure [(400 USD/12 months) x (2,700 messages/5,000 messages)] = $33.33 USD + $33.33 USD x 0.54 ≈ $51.33 USD

    Handling fee = Paid amount x 10% = $400.00 USD x 0.1 = $40.00 USD

    Refund = Paid amount – Consumed amount – Handling fee = $400.00 USD – $51.33 USD – $40.00 USD ≈ $308.66 USD

  • Example 3: If you unsubscribe from a non-resettable resource package, you will be billed for the consumed amount based on how much you have already used it.

    On January 01, 2026, you purchased a 1-year CDN traffic package with a total of 500 GB traffic that cannot be reset. The paid amount was $100.00 USD. On February 15, 2026, you unsubscribed from the traffic package. You used 60 GB in January and 30 GB in February.

    Consumed amount = Paid amount x (Used quota/Total quota) = $100.00 USD x (90 GB/500 GB) = $18.00 USD

    Handling fee = Paid amount x 10% = $100.00 USD x 0.1 = $10.00 USD

    Refund = Paid amount – Consumed amount – Handling fee = $100.00 USD – $18 USD – $10.00 USD = $72.00 USD
