What's New

Updated on 2024/12/24 GMT+08:00

The tables below describe the functions released in each Server Migration Service version and corresponding documentation updates. New features will be successively launched in each region.

Document

1

Enable Concurrency

You can set the maximum number of processes that the SMS-Agent can start concurrently (1 to 4) when migrating and synchronizing files of a Linux source server. However, the number of process that can actually be started depends on how well the source server performs and how many disks and partitions the source server has.

1

Set Migration Limits

You can set limits for CPU usage, memory usage, and disk throughput for SMS-Agent on the source server.

1

Check Network Performance

During the first full migration, a subtask will be generated to check the migration network performance by detecting the packet loss rate, jitter, network latency, bandwidth, memory usage, and CPU usage.

1

Deleting an EVS Snapshot

SMS generates snapshots for EVS disks on each target server during the full replication, incremental synchronization, and target cloning. For EVS disks in DSS storage pools, snapshots take up the same amount of space in the pool as the disks.

New SMS console

  • Migration Template: A migration template defines the migration network type, migration rate limit, whether to enable continuous synchronization, and region and project. You can use a template to quickly configure migration tasks.
  • Server Template: A server template defines the target server VPC, subnet, and security group. You can use a template to quickly configure target servers with the same settings.

1

Continuous synchronization

  • If you choose not to execute a continuous synchronization after the full replication, SMS will not perform a continuous synchronization and will automatically launch the target server. To synchronize incremental data, click Start in the Operation column.
  • If you choose to execute a continuous synchronization after the full replication, SMS will perform a continuous synchronization. To complete the migration, you need to manually launch or clone the target server.

1

New SMS console

  • Continuous Synchronization: After the full replication is complete, SMS automatically performs continuous synchronization, freeing you from manually synchronizing data.
  • Clone Target Server: Before you launch the target server, you can clone the target server for service testing, and only launch the target server until tests confirm there are no issues.
  • Project Management: You can manage your source servers by migration project.

2

Locking target servers

After the migration starts, SMS automatically locks the target server. During this period, you are not allowed to operate the target server. This prevents migration failures.
