Scheduled System Disk Recomposing

Scenario

This section describes how to recompose a system disk periodically for a cloud desktop or a desktop pool. For details about the impact and restrictions of system disk recomposing on the system, see Recomposing a System Disk or Recomposing a System Disk.

Procedure

  1. Log in to the Workspace console.
  2. In the navigation pane, choose Tasks > Scheduled Tasks.

The Scheduled Tasks page is displayed.

  3. Click Create Scheduled Task in the upper right corner of the page.

The Create Scheduled Task window is displayed.

  4. Configure a scheduled task.

    • Task Type: Select System disk recomposing.
    • Task Name: This parameter is user-defined.
    • Method: The default value is Reinstall OS.
    • Execution Interval: You can select one of the following intervals:
      • Specified time: The time is accurate to seconds.
      • By day: You can specify Time, Executed Once Per, and Expires At.
      • By week: You can specify Weekday, Time, and Expires At.
      • By month: You can specify Month, Day, Time, and Expires At.
    • Notification: If you select Enable, you can enter the notification in Notification Message.

Notification messages are supported only in Windows.

    • Confirm Task by Entering: Enter Recomposing System Disk.

  5. Set Notification to determine whether to notify users.

    • Enable: Perform 6 to 10.
    • Disable: Perform 8 to 10.

  6. Specify Earlier Than Scheduled Task. The value ranges from 1 to 10,080 minutes.
  7. Enter content in Notification Message. The content must be text in 1 to 1,024 characters.
  8. Click Next: Select Object.

The Select Target Object page is displayed.

For the first time when you click Next: Select Objects, the authorization description will be displayed.

Cloud service administrator permissions: Workspace supports scheduled system disk recomposing and auto scaling. Therefore, the tenant administrator permissions are required.

After the permission is granted (only once), an agency named workspace_admin_trust will be created in IAM. Do not delete or modify the agency when performing a scheduled task or using a desktop pool. For details, see Entrustment Description.

  9. In the Available Objects area, select All desktops, Desktops, or Desktop pools from the drop-down list box, and select the desired objects.
  10. Click Create Now.
