Overview

EVS disks can be attached to servers to be used as system disks or data disks. For details, see Table 1.

System disk

System disks are purchased together with servers. You cannot purchase them separately.

Data disk

You can purchase data disks together with servers or separately.

Figure 1 shows the process of purchasing and using a data disk.

  1. Make preparations: Register a Huawei ID, enable Huawei Cloud services, and top up your account.
  2. Buy an EVS disk: Configure the disk parameters, including the disk type, size, name, and other information by referring to Purchasing an EVS Disk.
  3. Attach the data disk: Attach the separately purchased disk to the ECS by referring to Attaching an EVS Disk.
  4. Initialize the data disk: Log in to the server and initialize the data disk to make the disk available for use. For details about how to initialize the disk, see the following sections:
