Viewing an Application Topology

In enterprise‑level application management, traditional text list views fail to intuitively present resource relationships amid complex application hierarchies and resource distribution. This leads to poor visibility into resource usage and reduces the efficiency of monitoring and management. Improving the efficiency and accuracy of resource management has become a major concern. The application topology is presented as a graph, where nodes represent applications and resources, and lines show the relationships between them. This visual view makes application hierarchies and resource dependencies much clearer, improving resource monitoring and management and the visibility into resource usage. You can quickly locate resource relationships, optimize resource configurations, and improve management efficiency.

During routine application management, you may need to adjust the name or description of a created application based on service changes to ensure information accuracy and timeliness. After an application is created, you can modify the application name or description, or delete the application that is no longer used to ensure information accuracy and service flexibility.

Precautions

  • You can only modify the relationships between components.
  • This modification does not affect the hierarchies and functions of applications and components.

Viewing an Application Topology

  1. Log in to COC.
  2. In the navigation pane, choose Resources > Application and Resource Management.
  3. Click Applications.
  4. In the application list on the left, locate the application you want to view and click next to the application name. The complete application topology page is displayed.

    On the full-link application topology page, you can view the application hierarchy.

  5. By default, only the application topology is displayed on the application topology page. You can disable Only Display Topology in the upper right corner to view node alarms and change information.
  6. Hover the cursor to a node to view the alarm information on the node.

  7. Click a component node to expand the resource layer. You can view the information about the resources associated with the component, including the resource type and resource quantity.

  8. You can click the number of resources to view all resources associated with the corresponding resource type.

  9. Hover the pointer over a resource node to view the basic information about the resource. For example, for an ECS resource, the CPU usage, number of network connections, inbound bandwidth, outbound bandwidth, and number of alarms are displayed.

  10. Click View Resource Details in the pop-up resource window to go to the resource details page.
  11. Click Monitor View in the displayed dialog box to view the monitoring metrics of the resource.

    The metrics displayed vary depending on the instance. The actual metrics displayed on the page prevail.

Modifying the Application Topology

  1. Log in to COC.
  2. In the navigation pane, choose Resources > Application and Resource Management.
  3. Click Applications.
  4. In the application list on the left, locate and click the application you want to modify and click next to the application name. The complete application topology page is displayed.
  5. Click . The application topology page is displayed.
  6. Click Custom Edit in the upper right corner.
  7. Click the component you want to modify and click .

  8. Hover the cursor to a component connection line. A tooltip is displayed. You can modify the connection relationships.

  9. Click Add Component and select a component from the drop-down list to add the topology relationship between components.
  10. Click OK. The connection relationship is modified.
  11. Click OK in the upper right corner of the page to complete the application topology modification.
