Using Auto Ops
Scenarios
During routine database administration, DBAs need to frequently perform different O&M tasks, such as SQL throttling, automatic session killing, and automatic scaling, to maintain database performance and reliability. However, these O&M functions and configurations are scattered across different pages, making database management inconvenient and time-consuming. To improve efficiency, TaurusDB provides a smart DBA platform. It combines all automated O&M features like auto scaling of specifications, storage autoscaling, session killing, and auto throttling. These features are automatically triggered based on predefined conditions, simplifying workflows and improving user experience. If you have configured these features on the Basic Information or DBA Assistant page, the configurations will be automatically synchronized to the Auto Ops page.
Constraints
- Auto Scaling is only available for pay-per-use and yearly/monthly instances.
- Auto Enlarge (storage autoscaling) is only available for yearly/monthly instances.
Procedure
- Log in to the TaurusDB console.
- Click
in the upper left corner and select a region. - On the Instances page, click the target instance name.
- In the navigation pane, choose SQL Analysis and Tuning under DBA Assistant.
- Click Auto Ops.
- In the displayed dialog box, enable Auto Scaling, Auto Enlarge, Auto Kill Session, and Auto Throttling as required. Figure 1 Auto Ops
- Auto Scaling
Click
to turn on Auto Scaling and set related parameters. When the conditions are met, the specifications are automatically upgraded or downgraded. For details, see Configuring an Auto Scaling Policy for a DB Instance.Figure 2 Enabling Auto Scaling
- Auto Enlarge (only available for yearly/monthly instances)
Click
to turn on Auto Enlarge. Storage autoscaling is available only for yearly/monthly instances. If the available storage drops to a specified threshold, storage autoscaling is triggered. For details, see Configuring Storage Autoscaling.- Trigger If Available Storage Drops To: If the available storage drops to your specified threshold or 10 GB, storage autoscaling is triggered.
- Autoscaling Limit: The value ranges from 20 to 128000, in GB. The storage space must be an integer multiple of 10.
- Increment: The percentage used for a single storage scale-up operation, with a value range of 1% to 50%.

- Auto Kill Session
Click
to turn on Auto Kill Session. Auto Ops only allows you to enable Auto Kill Session. To kill sessions in batches, kill sessions based on predefined conditions, or view historical session kill records, see Using Auto Kill Sessions. - Auto Throttling
Click
to turn on Auto Throttling and configure a throttling policy. When the criteria are met, the system automatically throttles traffic to ensure stable operations of critical workloads. Throttling applies only to SELECT sessions. For details, see Configuring Auto Throttling.Figure 4 Configuring Auto Throttling
