Pay-per-Use

Pay-per-use is a billing mode in which you pay after using the service. This mode is recommended if you do not need any prepayment or long-term commitment. This section describes the pay-per-use billing rules.

Application Scenarios

LTS collects logs and displays them in an intuitive and orderly manner, making them easy to query.

Billing Items

You are charged based on the actual read/write traffic, index traffic, storage volume, and transfer traffic of logs.

Table 1 Billing items

Billing Item

Description

Log read/write traffic

Log transmission traffic.

Log index traffic

Log search depends on indexes. Full-text indexing is enabled by default.

Log storage volume

Includes standard and cold storage. These two storage solutions are optimized for different data access frequencies and costs, with key differences in access speed, cost, and application scenarios.

  • Standard storage: ideal for high-frequency data queries. It offers high performance for queries and analysis and supports features such as log visualization and dashboards, but has a higher storage cost.
  • Cold storage: ideal for low-frequency data queries. It offers lower performance for queries and analysis and does not support features like log visualization or dashboards, but it provides a lower storage cost.
NOTE:

Cold storage is available only to whitelisted users. To use it, submit a service ticket. After your request is approved, enable cold storage by referring to Managing Log Streams.

Log transfer

Includes the basic and advanced log transfer traffic.

  • Basic transfer: This mode does not require field mapping between the source log stream and the transfer destination, making it less compute-intensive than advanced transfer. Example: transferring raw or JSON logs to Object Storage Service (OBS)
  • Advanced transfer: This mode requires field mapping between the source log stream and the transfer destination. It consumes more computing power than basic transfer. Example: transferring logs in ORC format to OBS
NOTE:

Log transfer is now charged in regions CN North-Beijing1, CN North-Beijing4, CN North-Ulanqab1, CN Southwest-Guiyang1, CN East-Shanghai1, CN East-Shanghai2, CN East-Qingdao, and CN South-Guangzhou.

Billing Cycle

In the pay-per-use mode, LTS resources are billed by hour. Fees are settled on the hour (UTC+8). Once settlement is complete, a new billing cycle starts.

For example, if log reporting runs from 8:45:30 to 9:45:30, bills will be generated for two billing cycles: 8:00:00–8:59:59 and 9:00:00–9:59:59. (No bills are generated if your monthly usage does not exceed the 500 MB/month free quota.)

Billing Modes

LTS supports the pay-per-use billing mode. Fees are settled based on the actual usage of each billing item. You can use the service first and pay for it. A certain free quota is provided monthly.

The free quota is provided based on the Huawei account level and can be shared by all LTS log groups under the account.

Impact of Arrears

Arrears alert

The system will deduct fees for pay-per-use resources at the end of each billing cycle. You will be notified by email, SMS, or internal messages when your account is in arrears.

Impact of arrears

After the account is in arrears, logs cannot be reported and LTS is unavailable. For details, see Top-Up and Payment.
