Billing Examples

Scenario

A user created a pay-per-use GaussDB(DWS) cluster at 15:30:00 on March 18, 2023. The specifications are as follows:

  • Node flavor: dwsx2.xlarge
  • Hot data storage: 100 GB/node
  • Number of nodes: 3
  • Data disk: SSD cloud disk

After a period of time, the user found that the current cluster specifications cannot meet service requirements and changed the flavor to dwsx2.8xlarge (96 vCPUs | 2,400.00 GB) at 9:00:00 on March 20, 2023. The storage remains unchanged. The user wanted to use the cluster for a long time. So at 10:30:00 on March 20, 2023, the user changed the billing mode to yearly/monthly with a subscription of one month. How much is the total fee generated by the cluster from March to April?

Billing Analysis

The usage of the GaussDB(DWS) instance can be divided into two phases based on the billing mode: pay-per-use from Mar 18, 2023, 15:30:00 to Mar 20, 2023, 10:30:00, and yearly/monthly from Mar 20, 2023, 10:30:00 to Apr 20, 2023, 23:59:59.

Pay-per-Use

From Mar 18, 2023, 15:30:00 to Mar 20, 2023, 09:00:00, the billing is based on dwsx2.xlarge.cluster x 3 for 41.5 hours. The fees are calculated as follows:

From Mar 20, 2023, 09:00:00 to Mar 20, 2023, 10:30:00, the billing is based on dwsx2.8xlarge.cluster x 3 for 1.5 hours. The fees are calculated as follows:

Yearly/Monthly

From Mar 20, 2023, 10:30:00 to Apr 20, 2023, 23:59:59, the billing mode is yearly/monthly, and the billing period is for one month. The fees are calculated as follows:

From March to April, the total fee for the ECS is 127.61 + 37.91 + 115560 = 115725.52 USD.
