Managing LakeFormation Tables

You can view, modify, authorize, and delete LakeFormation tables.

Prerequisites

You have created a table. For details, see Creating a Table.

Managing Tables

  1. Log in to the LakeFormation console.
  2. Select the target LakeFormation instance from the drop-down list box on the left and choose Metadata > Table.
  3. In the upper right corner, select a catalog and database from the Catalog and Database drop-down lists. View the tables contained in the selected database.

  4. Perform the following operations on a table.

Viewing Table Details

In the table list, click the name of the table to be viewed to view its details.

Modifying Table Information

  • Method 1: In the table list, locate a table and click Modify in the Operation column. On the displayed page, configure parameters and click Submit.
  • Method 2: In the table list, click the name of the table to be modified, click Edit. On the displayed page, configure parameters and click Submit.

The catalog and database of a table cannot be changed.

Viewing Existing Permissions of a Table

In the table list, locate a table and click View Permissions in the Operation column to view the existing permissions of the table.

Authorizing a Table

  • Method 1: In the table list, locate a table and click Authorize in the Operation column. In the displayed dialog box, configure the entity type, object to be authorized, operation type.
  • Method 2: In the table list, locate a table and click View Permissions in the Operation column. On the displayed page, click Authorize to authorize the table.

Deleting a Table

  1. In the table list, locate a table and click Delete in the Operation column.
  2. Confirm the operation impact, confirm whether to delete the data stored in OBS, and click OK.
    • (Optional) Delete the data stored in OBS: The deleted data is stored in the recycle bin and can be restored before it expires.
    • If files are also deleted when metadata is deleted, the metadata is moved to the recycle bin (OBS path lake-formation-trash-dir/table_id) of the corresponding OBS bucket.
