Managing LakeFormation Catalogs

You can view, modify, authorize, and delete LakeFormation catalogs, and view databases in the catalogs.

You have created a catalog. For details, see Creating a Catalog.

Log in to the LakeFormation console.
Select the LakeFormation instance to be operated from the drop-down list on the left and choose Metadata > Catalog in the navigation pane.
View all catalogs of the current LakeFormation instance.

Perform the following operations on a catalog:

In the catalog list, click the name of the catalog that you want to view.

In the catalog list, locate a catalog and click Database in the Operation column to view the databases in the catalog.

Method 1: In the catalog list, locate a catalog and click Modify in the Operation column. On the displayed page, configure parameters and click Submit.
Method 2: In the catalog list, click the name of the catalog to be modified, click Edit. On the displayed page, configure parameters and click Submit.

The catalog name and type cannot be modified.

In the catalog list, locate a catalog and click View Permissions in the Operation column to view the existing permissions of the catalog.

Method 1: In the catalog list, locate a catalog and click Authorize in the Operation column. In the displayed dialog box, configure the entity type, object to be authorized, operation type.
Method 2: In the catalog list, locate a catalog and click View Permissions in the Operation column. On the displayed page, click Authorize to authorize the catalog.

In the catalog list, locate a catalog and click Delete in the Operation column.
In the displayed dialog box, select the check box and click OK. Deleted data cannot be restored.
Before deleting a catalog, you need to delete all databases in the catalog.

If files are also deleted when metadata is deleted, the metadata is moved to the recycle bin (OBS path lake-formation-trash-dir/table_id) of the corresponding OBS bucket.
