COST04-02 Proactively Monitoring Costs

  • Risk level

    Medium

  • Key strategies

Monitor your costs and usage regularly, not just after the bill is generated or when you receive an anomaly notification. Regular monitoring and proactive cost analysis can help you identify cost trends in a timely manner and prevent any anomalies.

  • Related services and tools

You can create a budget alert and set a budget threshold, so you can receive notifications when the forecasted or actual costs exceed the set threshold. This helps you prevent potential cost overruns.

You can create cost monitors. Huawei Cloud Cost Center Cost Anomaly Detection uses machine learning to model your historical expenditures. Cost growth that does not comply with the model are identified as cost anomalies, and root causes for the anomalies are provided. You can set monitoring alerts to periodically obtain anomaly records and respond quickly to maintain the expected costs.

In Billing Center, you can enable available quota monitoring threshold. If the available quota falls below the threshold, an alert will be sent, preventing service interruptions due to quota exhaustion.

You can enable resource package monitoring. If the remaining resource package quota is insufficient, an alert will be sent, preventing the resource package from being automatically changed to pay-per-use billing.

You can use preconfigured reports for cost analysis or create commonly used cost analysis reports to quickly learn cost breakdowns and trends.
