Overview of Cross-Account EIP Transfer

If an enterprise or organization structure changes or services need to be migrated, you need to retain EIPs and transfer them to another account. In this case, you can use cross-account transfer to transfer pay-per-use EIPs to another account.

Constraints

  • Account constraints
    • The source account (account that an EIP is transferred from) and transfer account (account that an EIP is transferred to) must meet the following requirements:

The accounts are from direct customers of the Huawei Cloud official website. Accounts of distributor customers and virtual carrier customers are not supported.

    • The project ID of the source account and that of the transfer account cannot be the same.
    • Both the source and transfer accounts cannot be deregistered or frozen.
    • Both the source and transfer accounts must have an available balance (a cash balance or credit limit).
    • The transfer account must have:
      • Permissions to assign EIPs of the same types as the source account.
      • An available EIP quota that is greater than the number of EIPs to be transferred.
  • EIP constraints
    • Only pay-per-use EIPs can be transferred across accounts.

You can change a yearly/monthly EIP to a pay-per-use EIP and then transfer the EIP. For details, see From Yearly/Monthly to Pay-per-Use.

    • An EIP to be transferred must be unbound. EIPs in the following states cannot be transferred:
      • Frozen
      • Bound
      • Blocked
      • Arrears
    • If there is an unpaid order for changing an EIP from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly, the EIP cannot be transferred.
  • Other
    • You cannot transfer multiple EIPs across accounts at the same time.
    • After transfer, an EIP is configured with the default dedicated bandwidth (5 Mbit/s, pay-per-use, billed by traffic), regardless of whether the bandwidth type of the EIP in the source account is dedicated or shared.
