Configuring Permissions for Future Tables

Updated on 2025-02-27 GMT+08:00

During role/permission set configuration, if a user is assigned the full table permission in a schema of the DWS data source (that is, the data table in the permission is marked with *), the user has the corresponding permission on all tables in the schema. Due to the restrictions of GaussDB(DWS) permissions, these permissions are applicable only to the current table. This user has no permissions on the tables (future tables) created after permission synchronization. In this case, the administrator must manually synchronize permissions of the role or permission set so that the user can have permissions on future tables.

To avoid manually synchronizing the permissions on future tables, you can configure the users for creating future tables in a specified schema. When these users create future tables in the specified schema, all the users that have full table permissions on the schema in the current instance automatically obtain the permissions on the created future tables.

Prerequisites

Notes and Constraints

  • The specified future table user must have the create permission in the corresponding schema.
  • In a single database, a maximum of 200 future table users can be configured for a single schema in the schema view, and a maximum of 200 schemas can be configured for a single future table user in the future table user view.

Configuring Future Table Users for a Schema (Schema View)

You can configure multiple future table users for a schema.

  1. On the DataArts Studio console, locate a workspace and click DataArts Security.
  2. In the navigation pane, choose Permission Applications. On the Permission Applications page, click the Future Table Permissions tab.
  3. On the Future Table Permissions page, select the DWS data connection for which you want to configure future table permissions in the data connection area and click next to the selected data connection to add a database.

  4. Click the database to be configured. On the Schema view page, click Create to create a future table configuration.

  5. In the dialog box that is displayed, configure a table creation user for the specified schema and click OK.

  6. After the configuration is successful, click Synchronise.

After the synchronization is complete, when a future table user creates a future table in a specified schema, all users who have the full table permission on the schema in the current instance automatically obtain the corresponding permission on the created future table.

Configuring a Schema for Future Table Users (Future Table User View)

You can configure multiple schemas for a future table user at a time.

On the Future Table User View page, click Create to create a future table configuration.

  5. In the dialog box that is displayed, specify a schema for the user who will create the table and click OK.

  6. After the configuration is complete, click Synchronise.

After the synchronization is successful, when a future table user creates a future table in a specified schema, all users who have the full table permission on the schema in the current instance automatically obtain the corresponding permission on the created future table.
