Configuring a Database Creation Application

Updated on 2025-02-27 GMT+08:00

To manage and control the process of creating a database for the MRS Hive data source that is decoupled from storage and compute, data security supports the creation of a database on the data source through the application approval process.

This section describes how to configure the database path as an administrator, how to apply for creating a database as an applicant, and how to approve a database creation application as an approver.

Prerequisites

  • The storage-compute decoupling function has been enabled for the MRS cluster, and data connections of the MapReduce service (MRS Hive) and MapReduce service (MRS Ranger) have been created in the management center. For details, see Creating a DataArts Studio Data Connection.
  • Before using the database creation application function, you have configured permissions for the dlg_agency agency by referring to Authorizing dlg_agency.
  • Only the DAYU Administrator, tenant administrator, and data security administrator have the permission to configure the database path and approve the database creation application.
  • The database creation applicant must be the space administrator and the administrator of any space permission set.

Notes and Constraints

  • Only MRS clusters with Ranger enabled are supported.
  • Only the applicant can withdraw the work order, and the approver can reject the work order. Currently, the function of reclaiming the database creation approval is not supported.
  • Only one path policy can be configured for a cluster.

Configuring the Database Path

The database path is configured by DAYU Administrator, Tenant Administrator, and data security administrator.

  1. On the DataArts Studio console, locate a workspace and click DataArts Security.
  2. Choose Permission Review from the left navigation pane. On the Permission Review page, click Database Application Review.

  3. Click Database Path Config. In the Database Path Config window that is displayed, click Create Database Path and configure the database path.

    • Data Connection: Select the created MRS Hive data connection.
    • Cluster Name: You do not need to enter the cluster name. The cluster name is automatically associated from the connection.
    • OBS Bucket: Select an OBS bucket.
    • Database Path Config: The database path is dynamically combined based on the OBS bucket name. The suffix can be automatically matched with built-in keywords. For example, when you enter {{? When the symbol is used, all options are automatically displayed. {{? CURRENT_WORKSPACE}}, {{? OBS_BUCKET}}.

  4. After configuring the database path, click OK.

  5. In the Database Path Config window, you can select the default cluster to help the applicant select the default path. After the configuration is complete, close the window.

Applying for Creating a Database

The database creation applicant must be the space administrator and the administrator of any space permission set.

  1. On the DataArts Studio console, locate a workspace and click DataArts Security.
  2. Choose Permission Review from the left navigation pane. On the Permission Review page, click the Database Request tab.

  3. Click Create Database Application, select the MRS cluster configured in Configuring the Database Path, enter the name of the database to be created, and click Test next to the database path. Ensure that the database is not created (the database name must be unique).

After the test is passed, select the workspace permission set, enter the database description and application reason, and click OK.

  4. After the service ticket list is displayed, the application is complete if the service ticket is successfully created.

Reviewing a Database Creation Application

The DAYU Administrator, tenant administrator, and data security administrator approve the database creation application.

  1. On the DataArts Studio console, locate a workspace and click DataArts Security.
  2. Choose Permission Review from the left navigation pane. On the Permission Review page, click the Database Application Review tab.

Figure 7 Database Application Review page

  3. On the Database Application Review page, find the database creation application to be approved and click Approved or Rejected in the Operation column.

    • Approved: Create a database in the specified data source and create an OBS path permission policy in the specified space permission set.
    • Rejected: Reject the application form.
