Edge site

Register one or more edge sites. Each edge site connects a deployment location (your premises) to a specific Huawei Cloud region.

Register your premises where an edge site is to be deployed.

You can also view, modify, and delete edge sites.

Network connectivity

  • Between an edge site and the on-premises system: The edge site connects to the on-premises system through a local gateway so that they can communicate with each other over a private network.
  • Between an edge site and the cloud: The edge AZ where the edge site resides connects to the central AZ on the cloud through two edge gateways and shares the same VPC with the central AZ, so that the edge site can access other cloud services on the cloud over a private network.

Cloud resources

In addition to core cloud services supported by CloudPond, you can deploy some additional cloud services at your edge site to leverage scalability of the cloud and run your workloads locally for data localization and low latency.

You can switch to the console of any cloud services from the CloudPond console to provision and manage cloud resources, and use images cached for CloudPond to create ECSs.

Monitoring

  • View the usages of compute resources (vCPUs and memory) and storage resources used by each edge site on the console.
  • Use Cloud Eye or other methods to monitor cloud resources used at your edge site, just as in the central AZs of Huawei Cloud.
