One-click Backup of Cloud Servers

Scenarios

As an enterprise migrates its workloads to the cloud, the number of ECSs increases. Manually identifying unprotected ECSs, associating them with backup vaults, and configuring backup policies is time-consuming and may expose the enterprise to data security risks.

The one-click backup function automatically scans all ECSs that are not associated with vaults, associates them with newly created vaults, and initiates automatic backups based on the preset backup policy. This function eliminates the need for manual checks and configurations, ensures that each ECS is promptly added to the backup system, and reduces the risk of data loss caused by human oversight.

One-click Backup of Cloud Servers

1. Log in to the CBR console. Click in the upper left corner and select a region.
2. In the upper right corner of the Cloud Server Backups page, click One-click Backup.
3. Complete Basic Settings and select a Protection Type.

   Parameter	Example Value	Description
   Billing Mode	Pay-per-use	Pay-per-use is a postpaid billing mode. You are billed based on your resource usage. You can buy or delete vaults anytime. Fees are deducted from your account. Yearly/Monthly is a prepaid billing mode. You are billed based on the subscription duration you specify. This mode provides lower prices and is ideal when the resource use duration is predictable.
   Region	CN-Hong Kong	Resources in different regions cannot communicate with each other over an intranet. Select the region closest to you to enjoy low latency. Once the vault is created, its region cannot be changed.
   Backup Locking	Unselected	This parameter is displayed only in regions that support backup locking. If backup locking is enabled, backups in the vault will not be deleted maliciously or by mistake. This improves data reliability. Backup locking cannot be disabled after it is enabled. For details, see Enabling Backup Locking.
   Backup Data Redundancy	Single-AZ	Single-AZ: Backup data is stored in a single AZ to reduce costs. Multi-AZ: Backup data is stored in multiple AZs for higher reliability. If one AZ becomes unavailable, backup data can still be accessed from other AZs. The backup data redundancy policy cannot be changed after a vault is purchased. Select a policy that best suits your service needs.

4. Specify Backup Capacity and Backup Policy.

   Parameter	Example Value	Description
   Backup Capacity	-	The system sets the vault capacity based on the total capacity of cloud servers that are not associated with the vault. You are not advised to reduce the vault capacity. Otherwise, backup may fail.
   Auto Capacity Expansion	Configure	If you select Configure, the vault capacity will be automatically expanded to 1.25 times the original capacity when the capacity is about to be used up. If you select Skip, the vault capacity will not be expanded automatically. If the vault capacity is used up, you can manually expand it. For details, see Expanding Vault Capacity.
   Auto Backup	Configure	Configure: A backup policy can be applied to this vault. Resources associated with this vault will be automatically backed up based on the policy. You can select an existing backup policy or create a new one. If you select Skip, the vault will not be automatically backed up. If you need to automatically back up data periodically, you can create a policy and apply it to the vault. For details, see Creating a Backup Policy.

5. Specify Enterprise Project and Advanced Settings.

   Parameter	Example Value	Description
   Enterprise Project	default	Add the vault to an existing enterprise project. This parameter is only available for enterprise users who have enabled enterprise project management. NOTE: If an IAM user has been assigned the CBR FullAccess policy but cannot view or select enterprise projects when creating a vault, the administrator must grant the CBR FullAccess policy for the enterprise project to the user group in the IAM console.
   Vault Name	vault-6e7c	Specify the name of the vault to be created. The name can contain 1 to 64 characters. Only letters, digits, underscores (_), and hyphens (-) are allowed. You can also use the default name vault_xxxx.
   Required Duration	1 month Selected Auto Renewal	If you select yearly/monthly billing, specify the required duration. If you select Auto Renewal: Your monthly subscription will be renewed every month. Your yearly subscription will be renewed every year.

6. Click Next.
7. Click Submit. Confirm the order details and complete the payment.
8. Go back to the Cloud Server Backups page. You can view the created vault in the vault list. The vault is in the Available state. On the Servers tab of the vault details page, you can associate cloud servers that are not yet associated with the vault.
