Managing Picklists in Applications

Updated on 2025-03-24 GMT+08:00

Picklist defines values available for an object field, which is similar to the enumerated values of a drop-down list. In Huawei Cloud Astro Zero, you can view the preset picklist, delete, view, and modify the picklist customized in an application, and add option values to the picklist.

Managing Picklists

  1. Log in to the Huawei Cloud Astro Zero console and click Access Homepage. The application development page is displayed.
  2. In the upper left corner of the page, click and choose Environments > Environment Configuration.
  3. Choose Maintenance from the main menu.
  4. In the navigation pane, choose Global Elements > Picklists to view the existing picklists of the account, including the picklists preset in the system and customized in the application.

    • Baseline

Picklists with this parameter selected are preset picklists. Otherwise, they are custom picklists.

    • Global
Picklists with this parameter selected are globally available and can be imported to an application during application development. Otherwise, they are private and can be used only in the application where the picklists are created.
      Figure 1 Viewing picklists

  5. You can click a picklist to view its option values.

    • Is Baseline: Option values with this parameter selected are preset option values which can only be viewed. Option values with this parameter deselected are customized, which can be deleted, viewed, modified, enabled, or disabled.
    • Default: Option values with this parameter selected are default values. If a picklist is not configured with a specific value, these default values are used.
    • Active: Option values with this parameter selected are enabled. Option values are valid only after they are enabled.
    • Click Add to add an option value to the picklist.

Using a Picklist

During application development, you can import picklists of the same account. Once imported, these picklists are available for use. This section uses application A to demonstrate the import process of picklists.

  1. Access the application designer of application A by referring to Logging In to the Application Designer.
  2. In the navigation pane, choose Data and click Picklists in the lower part of the page.

    Figure 3 Selecting a picklist

  3. On the displayed page, click Import and select an existing picklist to import.
  4. Add fields to an object using the picklist. For details, see Adding a Field to an Object.

    • Use picklists to add fields of the Picklist or Picklist (Multi-Select) type.
Figure 4 Adding fields of the Picklist or Picklist (Multi-Select) type
    • For value, select Global Options List, and select a picklist from the drop-down list box.
      Figure 5 Selecting a picklist

  5. Use the picklist when creating a standard page. For details, see Creating a Blank Standard Page.

In the property page of the picklist widget, click next to Picklist. In the dialog box that is displayed, search for the required picklist.

Figure 6 Using the picklist on a standard page

The difference between using the picklist on the standard page and calling the picklist in the object is that the picklist that can be selected in the object is at the application level, that is, the picklist in the configuration of the current application is available. However, the global picklist can be selected on the standard page. If the global picklist is selected on the standard page, you need to import or define the global picklist in the configuration. Otherwise, the drop-down list box may be blank due to the lack of the picklist during application packaging.
