PERF03-02 Selecting VMs and Container Nodes of Appropriate Specifications

  • Risk level

    Medium

  • Key strategies

Server resources function like a bucket composed of multiple components. The capacity to handle peak demands is determined by whichever resource hits its limit first.

Different applications have different resource demands. For example:

    • Power-intensive services (such as high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, and deep learning) consume computing capacity.
    • Memory-intensive services (such as big data processing, image/video processing, game development, and database) consume memory and storage capacity.
    • Storage-intensive services (such as large databases, big data analysis, large-scale file storage, and compilation and building) may consume storage bandwidth.

Select appropriate VM types and specifications based on service characteristics

For details about the VM types and specifications, see the official documents.
