VPN gateway

VPN connection

EIP bandwidth

This billing item is involved only when the network type is public network.

EIP bandwidth can be billed on a yearly/monthly or pay-per-use basis.

Enterprise router fees include enterprise router connection fees and enterprise router traffic fees.

This billing item is involved only when Associate With is set to Enterprise Router.

Total price = VPN gateway fee + VPN connection fee + EIP bandwidth fee + Enterprise router fee

Pay-per-use

VPN gateway (billed by hour)

VPN connection (billed by hour)

Total price = VPN gateway fee (by hour) + VPN connection fee (by hour) + EIP bandwidth fee + Enterprise router fee

The total price of VPN consists of the following parts:

  • VPN gateway fee: indicates the fee charged for using a single VPN gateway. A VPN gateway is dedicated to a tenant, ensuring its forwarding performance.

Multiple gateway specifications are available. You can select instances of different specifications based on your service requirements.

  • VPN connection fee: indicates the fee charged for the connections between a VPN gateway and a customer gateway.
    • In yearly/monthly billing mode, 10 VPN connection groups are included free of charge with the purchase of a VPN gateway by default. A VPN connection group consists of two VPN connections between a VPN gateway and a customer gateway. You can purchase additional VPN connection groups as required. VPN connection groups are sold in units of 10.
    • In pay-per-use billing mode, VPN connection groups are sold in units of 1. The fee of a single VPN connection group is calculated as follows:

Fee of a VPN connection group = Unit price of a connection group (USD/hour) x Usage duration (hour)

  • EIP bandwidth fee: indicates the fee charged for the bandwidth consumed by the EIPs bound to a VPN gateway.
    • By default, an active-active VPN gateway has two EIPs. You need to purchase bandwidth for each EIP.
    • If you use existing EIPs as the EIPs of a VPN gateway, you will not be charged again for these EIPs.

For details, see Elastic IP Pricing Details.

  • Enterprise router fee: indicates the enterprise router connection fee and enterprise router traffic fee generated when a VPN gateway is associated with an enterprise router.

For details, see the enterprise router price calculator.

For details about VPN pricing, see Product Pricing Details.

Billing Modes

The VPN service is billed on a yearly/monthly or pay-per-use basis.

Yearly/Monthly

You are billed by month or year when creating a VPN gateway.

  • Billing formula: Total price = VPN gateway fee (USD/month per gateway) + VPN connection group fee (USD/month per 10 connection groups) + EIP bandwidth fee (USD/month per Mbit/s) + Enterprise router connection fee (USD/hour) + Enterprise router traffic fee (USD/GB)

Bandwidth of a VPN gateway is shared by all VPN connections created for the VPN gateway. As such, you need to estimate the required bandwidth based on the amount of data transmitted over all the VPN connections.

  • Billing mode:

Ten VPN connection groups are included free of charge with the purchase of a VPN gateway. If more VPN connection groups are required, you need to purchase them. The yearly/monthly billing mode provides more discounts than the pay-per-use billing mode.

Pay-per-use

VPN gateways and VPN connection groups are billed by usage duration, and the billing cycle is 1 hour. EIP bandwidth can be billed by bandwidth or traffic.

  • Billed by bandwidth
    • Billing formula: Total price = VPN gateway fee (USD/hour per gateway) + VPN connection group fee (USD/hour per connection group) + EIP bandwidth fee (USD/hour per Mbit/s) + Enterprise router connection fee (USD/hour) + Enterprise router traffic fee (USD/GB)

EIP bandwidth refers to outbound bandwidth, that is, bandwidth for traffic sent from a VPC on the cloud to a customer gateway in an on-premises data center.

      1. If the purchased bandwidth is 10 Mbit/s or less, the inbound bandwidth is limited to 10 Mbit/s.
      2. If the purchased bandwidth is greater than 10 Mbit/s, the inbound bandwidth is the same as the purchased bandwidth.

For example, assuming that the bandwidth you purchased is 50 Mbit/s and you use the VPN gateway for 5 hours and then delete it, you will be charged for the use of 50 Mbit/s bandwidth for 5 hours even if you do not transmit any data during the 5 hours.

  • Billed by traffic

If you select billing by traffic, you will be charged for the traffic generated in the outbound direction of the cloud every hour, with the billing unit being 1 GB. If less than 1 GB is generated, the fee is calculated based on the actually generated traffic volume. Modifying the bandwidth has no impact on the incurred fees.

    • Billing formula: Total price = VPN gateway fee (USD/hour per gateway) + VPN connection group fee (USD/hour per connection group) + EIP traffic fee (USD/GB) + Enterprise router connection fee (USD/hour) + Enterprise router traffic fee (USD/GB)

Resource Name/ID

  1. Log in to the management console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner and select the desired region and project.
  3. Click Service List in the upper left corner. Under Networking, select Virtual Private Network.
  4. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Virtual Private Network > Enterprise – VPN Gateways.
  5. Click the name of a target VPN gateway to view its resource ID.

The name of a VPN gateway is a resource name.

Changing Billing Modes

You can change the billing modes of a VPN gateway as follows:

You can change the EIP billing mode (for example, from pay-per-use by traffic to pay-per-use by bandwidth) on the EIP console. For details, see Elastic IP Pricing Details.

Renewal

For details, see Renewal Management.

If the bound EIPs are purchased when a VPN gateway is created, the VPN gateway and EIPs can be renewed simultaneously. Otherwise, you need to renew the VPN gateway and EIPs separately.

Expiration and Overdue Payment

For details, see Service Suspension and Resource Release and Payment and Repayment.
