Functions
This section describes the main Cloud Eye functions. You can query the supported regions for each function on the management console.
Dashboards
Dashboards are custom monitoring platforms that allow you to view core metrics and compare the performance data of different services.
You must create a dashboard before adding graphs. You can create up to 10 dashboards, each customized for the monitoring requirements of different services. For more information, see Creating a Custom Dashboard.
Resource Groups
A resource group allows you to centrally manage resources, such as ECSs, EVS disks, EIPs, bandwidths, and databases, from the respective of your services. You can manage different types of resources, alarm rules, and alarm records by service. This improves O&M efficiency.
Resource Groups supports enterprise projects. If a resource group is associated with an enterprise project, only users who have all permissions for the enterprise project can manage the resource group.
For more information, see Creating a Resource Group.
Server Monitoring
Server monitoring is classified into basic monitoring, OS monitoring, and process monitoring. Whether you are using ECSs or BMSs, you can use server monitoring to track various OS metrics, monitor server resource usage, and query monitoring data if a fault occurs.
- Basic monitoring covers metrics automatically reported by ECSs. The data is collected every 5 minutes. You can monitor metrics such as CPU usage. For details, see Cloud Product Metrics.
 - OS monitoring provides system-level, proactive, fine-grained OS monitoring for servers using the Agent installed on the target ECS or BMS. The data is collected every minute. OS monitoring supports metrics such as CPU usage and memory usage (Linux). For details, see Cloud Product Metrics.
 - Process monitoring provides monitoring of active processes on servers. By default, Cloud Eye collects CPU usage, memory usage, and number of opened files of active processes.

For more information, see Overview.
Event Monitoring
Event monitoring provides data collection, query, and alarm reporting for events. You can configure alarm rules on Cloud Eye to monitor critical events or operation events related to your cloud resources. Once configured, Cloud Eye will notify you when the specified events happen. Events are key operations on cloud service resources that are stored and monitored by Cloud Eye. You can view events to see operations performed by specific users on specific resources, such as deleting a VM or restarting a VM.
Event monitoring is enabled by default. You can view monitoring details about system events and custom events. For details about the supported system events, see Events Supported by Event Monitoring.
For more information, see Viewing Events.
Alarm Management
You can set alarm rules for key metrics of cloud services. When the conditions in the alarm rule are met, Cloud Eye sends emails, SMS messages, or HTTP/HTTPS messages, enabling you to quickly respond to resource changes.
Cloud Eye sends notifications to you via Simple Message Notification (SMN). This requires you to create a topic and add subscriptions to this topic on the SMN console. Then, when you create alarm rules on Cloud Eye, you can enable alarm notification and select the topic. When alarm rule conditions are met, Cloud Eye sends the alarm information to subscription endpoints in real time.
The Alarm Rules function can be used for enterprise projects. If an alarm rule is associated with an enterprise project, only users who have all permissions for the enterprise project can view and manage the alarm rule.
For more information, see Overview.
Permissions Management
You can use Identity and Access Management (IAM) for fine-grained permissions management of your Cloud Eye. With IAM, you can:
- Create IAM users for employees based on your enterprise's organizational structure. Each IAM user will have their own security credentials for accessing Cloud Eye resources.
 - Grant only the minimum permissions required for users to perform a given task.
 - Entrust an account of Huawei Cloud or a cloud service to perform efficient O&M on your Cloud Eye resources.

For more information about permissions management, see Creating a User and Granting Permissions.
APIs
Cloud Eye is a multi-dimensional resource monitoring platform. With Cloud Eye, you can view the resource usage and service running status in the cloud, and respond to exceptions in a timely manner to ensure smooth running of services.
You can call APIs to perform operations on metrics, alarm rules, and monitoring data. You can query metrics, and create, query, or delete alarm rules. For details about all supported operations, see API Overview.
Before calling Cloud Eye APIs, ensure that you have fully understood relevant concepts. For details, see What Is Cloud Eye?
