  • Security Protocol

    SASL_SSL and SASL_PLAINTEXT are available.

    • SASL_SSL: SASL is used for authentication. Data is encrypted with an SSL certificate for high-security transmission.
    • SASL_PLAINTEXT: SASL is used for authentication. Data is transmitted in plaintext for better performance. SCRAM-SHA-512 mechanism is recommended for plaintext transmission.

How Do I Change the Kafka Security Protocol?

  • For instances with IPv6 disabled, the security protocol can be changed on the console. In the Connection area on the Kafka instance details page, disable Ciphertext Access and then configure security protocol when you enable Ciphertext Access again.
  • For instances with IPv6 enabled, the security protocol cannot be modified after the instances are created.
