Enabling or Disabling Storage Configuration
Scenarios
You can enable Storage configuration for an AI application to integrate the Supabase Storage component with Huawei Cloud Object Storage Service (OBS). This feature is suitable for storing and managing unstructured data such as images and videos.
Prerequisites
- Sign up for a Huawei Cloud account.
- If you need fine-grained management of resources on Huawei Cloud, use Identity and Access Management (IAM) to create IAM users and user groups, and grant them specific permissions so that the IAM users can obtain required permissions. For details, see Using IAM Roles or Policies to Grant Access to RDS.
- You must use a login account assigned the rds:aiApplication:modifyStorage, rds:aiApplication:get, and rds:aiApplication:list actions.
- You have obtained the name of the target OBS tenant bucket, access key ID (AK), and secret access key (SK). Ensure that you have full access and operation permissions for the OBS tenant bucket. Otherwise, faults may occur (for example, no permission to upload, download, or preview files).
Precautions
-
Storage can only be integrated with Huawei Cloud OBS. You must create an OBS tenant bucket in OBS.
- You must obtain the AK and SK on the My Credentials > Access Keys page of the IAM console.
- After the configuration is complete, the system automatically creates a folder in the root directory of the Huawei Cloud OBS bucket to store uploaded files. Do not directly operate on files in this folder through OBS clients, as this may cause inconsistencies between the Supabase Storage interface and the actual data, resulting in functional issues. Buckets created in the Supabase Storage interface generate subdirectories with the same names under the corresponding OBS bucket directory, with each subdirectory representing a bucket in the Storage interface.
- For applications created after August 30, 2026, the folder name corresponds to the Supabase application ID, making it easier for users to identify and associate resources. Figure 1 Details about the bucket created in Supabase Storage
Figure 2 Buckets created in Supabase Storage
- For applications created before August 30, 2026, the system automatically generates a fixed folder named app. If multiple Supabase applications are integrated with the same Huawei Cloud OBS bucket, all files uploaded through the Supabase Storage interface are stored under this app directory. When a Supabase application is deleted, the system does not automatically clean up the files. If the files are no longer needed, delete them manually and handle them carefully to avoid accidental removal.
- For applications created after August 30, 2026, the folder name corresponds to the Supabase application ID, making it easier for users to identify and associate resources.
Constraints
- Storage configuration cannot be enabled for applications that are undergoing active operations. Wait until the operations are complete.
- Supabase application features are unavailable during Storage configuration. Perform this operation during off-peak hours to avoid affecting peak-time workloads.
- Storage configuration cannot be set when the application status is abnormal.
- The Storage feature can be used only after Storage configuration is enabled.
Procedure
- Log in to the RDS console.
- Click
in the upper left corner and select a region. - In the navigation pane, choose AI App Dev Platform.
- On the AI App Dev Platform page, click the target AI application name to open its details page.
- On the displayed page, click Settings under the Storage Configuration field in the Basic Info area.
- In the displayed Storage Configuration dialog box, select the check box, enter the name of the target OBS bucket, AK, and SK, and click OK. Wait until the interconnection task is complete. Figure 3 Enabling Storage configuration for the AI application
- Refresh the details page later and check the Storage configuration status in the Basic Info area. If Enabled is displayed under the Storage Configuration field, the application is interconnected with the Storage.
- In the displayed dialog box, deselect the check box and click OK. Wait until the interconnection task is complete. Figure 4 Disabling Storage configuration for the AI application
- Refresh the details page later and check the Storage configuration status in the Basic Info area. If Disabled is displayed under the Storage Configuration field, Storage is disabled for the application.
