Transferring an EIP Across Accounts
You can transfer pay-per-use EIPs across accounts as required.
- Step 1 Initiate the EIP Transfer from the Source Account (Account That an EIP Is Transferred From)
- Step 2 Accept the EIP Transfer Request from the Transfer Account (Account That an EIP Is Transferred to)
Constraints
- During an EIP transfer, the following operations are not supported:
- Cloud resource binding
- Bandwidth size increase or decrease
- Billing mode and billing option change
For example, changing the billing mode of an EIP from pay-per-use to yearly/monthly, or changing the billing option of a pay-per-use EIP billed by bandwidth to a pay-per-use EIP billed by traffic, is not supported.
- EIP release
- Before the transfer account (account that an EIP is transferred to) accepts or rejects the transfer, the source account (account that an EIP is transferred from) can cancel the transfer.
- After the source account (account that an EIP is transferred from) initiates the transfer, the transfer account (account that an EIP is transferred to) needs to accept the transfer within 24 hours, or it will expire.
- Only transfers within the same region are supported. Cross-region transfers are not supported.
Step 1 Initiate the EIP Transfer from the Source Account (Account That an EIP Is Transferred From)
- Log in to the source account (account that an EIP is transferred from) and go to the EIP list page.
- In the EIP list, locate the row that contains the target EIP and choose More > Enable Cross-Account Transfer in the Operation column.
The Enable Cross-Account Transfer page is displayed.
- On the Enable Cross-Account Transfer page, confirm the EIP information and enter the transfer account information.
- Confirm the information and click OK.
In the upper left corner above the EIP list page, click the number next to Transferred EIPs. On the EIPs Transferred Out tab, you can see that the EIP is in the Pending acceptance status.
- If the transfer account does not confirm the transfer within 24 hours after the source account initiates the transfer request, the transfer will expire.
- Before the transfer account confirm the transfer, the source account can cancel the transfer.
- If the transfer is in the Cross-account transfer completed status, the cross-account EIP transfer is complete. If the transfer is in the Cross-account transfer failed status, the cross-account EIP transfer fails. You can obtain the failure cause from the Status column.
Step 2 Accept the EIP Transfer Request from the Transfer Account (Account That an EIP Is Transferred to)
- Log in to the transfer account (account that an EIP is transferred to) and go to the EIP list page.
- In the EIP list, click Transfers Pending Acceptance in the upper left corner.
- Click Accept in the Operation column of the EIP to be accepted. The page for accepting cross-account EIP transfer is displayed.
- Confirm the information as prompted and click OK.
Return to the list of EIPs Transferred In and you can see that the EIP is in the Cross-account transfer completed status.
