Real-Name Authentication Overview

Real-name authentication is the process of submitting valid identity information (such as a passport or business license) for verification when you use cloud services in the Chinese mainland. There are individual real-name authentication and enterprise real-name authentication.

To comply with relevant laws and regulations and ensure account security and legal rights, real-name authentication is required for using cloud services in the Chinese mainland. Without real-name authentication, you are not allowed to purchase these cloud services.

Differences Between Individual and Enterprise Authentication

The main difference lies in account ownership.

  • An individual account belongs to an individual.
  • An enterprise account belongs to an enterprise.

Individual real-name authentication is suitable for individuals.

Enterprise real-name authentication is suitable for enterprises, public institutions, social groups, and individual businesses.

The account type you select will greatly affect your account ownership. For example, if an individual account is authenticated as an enterprise account, the individual account may face inconvenience or financial liabilities if the account owner is changed, the account is in arrears, or any account disputes occur.
