Before You Start

You can expand a CBH instance capacity by upgrading its edition to meet your business needs.

This document applies to capacity expansion of a single-node CBH instance on HUAWEI CLOUD.

To expand the capacity of a CBH instance in two-node cluster mode, click Service Tickets in the HUAWEI CLOUD management console, fill in a service ticket, and contact technical support.

Capacity Expansion Process Overview

This document describes how to expand a CBH instance capacity as system administrator admin. To complete an expansion, you need to back up the CBH system data before the capacity expansion, buy an expansion instance, restore the original CBH system configurations as needed, and verify that the configurations for the original and new CBH systems are consistent.

Precautions

  • Ensure that the CBH system software version is 3.2.16.0 or later if you need to upgrade the instance to an enhanced edition. Otherwise, the functions of enhanced edition do not take effect after the capacity expansion. If the software version is earlier than 3.2.16.0, upgrade the system version before capacity expansion.
  • To prevent system data loss caused by a capacity expansion failure, you need to back up data before the capacity expansion and load the backup data to the new CBH system to restore the system configuration.
  • After the expansion instance is purchased, the CPU, memory, and bandwidth are automatically expanded, which does not affect the use of the original EIP. Only capacity of data disks is expanded. Thus, the system disk is not affected.
  • It takes about 30 minutes for the new CBH system is ready after the purchase. During this period, the CBH system is unavailable, but services running on your managed hosts are not affected.
  • The entire capacity expansion process takes about 60 minutes, including preparation, expansion instance purchase, and expansion verification. During the capacity expansion, you are advised not to log in to the CBH system and stop all operations in the CBH system to prevent data loss.
