Creating a Windows ECS from an ISO Image

Scenarios

This section describes how to create an ECS from a registered ISO image.

Constraints

Dedicated Cloud (DeC) users cannot create ECSs from ISO images.

If the DeC service is enabled for a user in a specified region, the user will be a DeC user. For more information, see What Is DeC?

Procedure

  1. Log in to the IMS console.

  2. Use an ISO image to create a Windows ECS.

    1. Click the Private Images tab. Locate the row that contains the ISO image and click Create ECS in the Operation column.

The created ECS is for temporary use only and needs to be deleted when you are finished with it. The system creates a pay-per-use ECS with fixed specifications. When you use the private image created from this ECS to create new ECSs, you can customize the specifications and billing mode then.

If you are a DeC user, the Create ECS button in the Operation column will be unavailable for you because a DeC user cannot use an ISO image to create an ECS.

    2. Configure the ECS as prompted and click OK.

      Parameter

      Description

      AZ

An availability zone (AZ) is a physical location where resources use independent power supplies and networks. A region contains one or more AZs that are physically isolated but interconnected through internal networks. The available ECS types and flavors vary depending on AZs.

      Flavor

      Available ECS flavors are listed.

      NOTE:

If the flavor list is empty, there are no available flavors in the AZ of this region. In this case, you can:

If the problem persists, contact Huawei Cloud technical support.

      System Disk

Set the system disk capacity. Value range: 40–1,024 GiB

      Data Disk

Set the data disk capacity. Value range: 40–1,024 GiB

      VPC

Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) allows you to provision logically isolated virtual private networks for cloud resources such as cloud servers. You can select an existing VPC from the drop-down list. For more information, see VPC Network Planning Suggestions.

      Subnet

A subnet is a unique CIDR block with a range of IP addresses in a VPC. You can divide a VPC into several subnets to help you plan IP addresses. All cloud resources in a VPC must be deployed on subnets. Subnets in the same VPC cannot overlap. You can select an existing subnet from the drop-down list.

      Name

An ECS name can contain only letters, digits, underscores (_), hyphens (-), and periods (.).

      Enterprise Project

This parameter is for enterprise users. Select an enterprise project from the drop-down list.

      Price

By default, pay-per-use billing is used. The billing is calculated by the second and settled by the hour.

Follow-up Procedure

After the ECS is created, you can log in remotely to continue with OS and drivers installation.
