Modifying a Policy
When services and compliance requirements change, you can modify policies. For example, if resources are required for testing, you can shorten the backup period. If services need to be expanded to new regions, you can modify the data retention rules based on local compliance requirements. If data needs to be archived, you can extend the backup retention period to meet audit requirements.
After the backup time, period, and retention rules are modified, the system automatically updates the scheduling mechanism and executes the new policies in the latest backup task. The retention rules may not apply to existing backups. For details, see Why the New Retention Rule I Changed Is Not Applied?
Prerequisites
At least one policy has been created.
Procedure
- Log in to the CBR console.
- Log in to the management console.
- Click
in the upper left corner and select a region.
- Click
and choose Storage > Cloud Backup and Recovery. Select the corresponding backup type from the navigation pane.
- Locate the target vault and click the vault name to view its details.
- In the Policies area, click Edit in the row of the policy to be edited.

- Click OK. You can view the rules column of the new policy in the policy list.
The new retention rule may not apply to existing backups. For details, see Why the New Retention Rule I Changed Is Not Applied?
Alternatively, select Policies from the navigation pane and edit the desired policy.
