Creating a Hybrid Cloud 2.0 Backup Replication Vault

Scenarios

Before starting a cross-cloud replication, you need to create a hybrid cloud 2.0 backup replication vault in the target region of the target cloud to store the replicas.

Constraints

  • Hybrid cloud 2.0 backup replication vaults can only receive cloud server backups and SFS Turbo backups from the source cloud.
  • When you create an encrypted hybrid cloud 2.0 replication vault, RAM shared keys cannot be used for encryption.
  • If the hybrid cloud 2.0 backup replication vault on the target cloud is encrypted, cross-cloud replicated backups will be automatically encrypted with the keys of the hybrid cloud 2.0 backup replication vault on the target cloud.
  • Policies cannot be applied to hybrid cloud 2.0 backup replication vaults. If you want to replicate replicated backups to other regions or a region of the source cloud, you can only manually replicate the backups.
  • A hybrid cloud 2.0 backup replication vault cannot be associated with resources, and its data cannot be migrated to other vaults.

Creating a Hybrid Cloud 2.0 Backup Replication Vault

  1. Log in to the CBR console.

    1. Log in to the management console.
    2. In the upper left corner, click and select a region.
    3. Click and choose Storage > Cloud Backup and Recovery. Then, select Hybrid Cloud Backups 2.0.

  2. Click Create Hybrid Cloud Backup Vault in the upper right corner.
  3. Set the required parameters for creating a hybrid cloud 2.0 backup replication vault. Retain the default values for other parameters.

Complete Basic Settings and select a Protection Type.

    Parameter

    Example Value

    Description

    Region

    -

Target region where the backups will be replicated to. Resources in different regions cannot communicate with each other over internal networks.

Once the vault is created, its region cannot be changed.

    Protection Type

    Replication

Replication: A replication vault stores replicas generated during backup replication.

    Encryption

    Disabled

When this function is enabled, all backups are stored in encrypted mode. You can select a key from the KMS key list or enter the KMS key ID of the current region.

Only keys generated using the AES256 or SM4 encryption algorithm can be used.

    Set the Backup Capacity.

    Parameter

    Example Value

    Description

    Backup Capacity

    1TB

Specify the vault capacity. The value ranges from 1 TB to 10240 TB.

You need to plan the vault capacity in advance. The capacity of the replication vault cannot be less than the size of the backups to be replicated.

As the vault's used space grows, you can expand the vault capacity if it becomes insufficient.

Configure Enterprise Project and Advanced Settings.

    Parameter

    Example Value

    Description

    Enterprise Project

    default

Add the vault to an existing enterprise project. EPS provides a unified method to manage cloud resources by project, allowing you to manage resources, users, and user groups in your projects. The default enterprise project is default.

This parameter is only available for enterprise users who have enabled enterprise project management.

    Vault Name

    vault-317a

Specify the name of the vault to be created.

A name can contain 1 to 64 characters. Only letters, digits, underscores (_), and hyphens (-) are allowed. You can also use the default name vault_xxxx.

  4. Click Next.
  5. Click Submit.
  6. Go back to the hybrid cloud 2.0 backup page. You can view the created vault in the vault list. The vault is in the Available state.
