PII Category Management

Only the Administrator and Global Security And Privacy Officer-Affairs/Global Security And Privacy Officer-Security roles are allowed to create PII categories.

Personally identifiable information (PII) categories are mandatory for creating S codes. You can create and manage PII categories, ensuring that they are available for selection during S code creation. Before creating an S code, you must create a PII category.

Creating a Data Item

  1. Log in to the PCMC.
  2. In the navigation pane, choose PII Category Management. The PII Category Management page is displayed.
  3. Click New Data Item in the upper left corner. In the displayed Create dialog box, set Data Item(English), Remark (English)(Optional), and Original Data Type Name(Optional) and select a level from the PII Level drop-down list. PII levels include:

    • General Personal Data: basic information that can be used to identify individuals, such as names, phone numbers, email addresses, and home addresses
    • Sensitive Personal Data: information that, if leaked or misused, could cause significant risks to individuals, such as ID card numbers, financial accounts, biometric data, and geolocation information

  4. Click to enable or disable Unique Identity Identifier and Special Types of Personal Data.

    • Unique Identity Identifier: information that can directly identify a specific individual and is fixed for a long period of time.
    • Special Types of Personal Data: personal data of special types, such as biometric identifiers and social attributes

  5. Select a country from the drop-down list.
  6. Click Save. The new data item is displayed in the list.

Related Operations

  • Click Edit in the Operation column to edit information about a data item.
  • Click Disable in the Operation column to disable a data item.
