Creating a Masking Template

In a masking template, you can configure masking rules for sensitive data. When configuring a masking task, you can select a template. Masking rules in the template will be automatically matched to data.

Creating a Masking Template

  1. Log in to the DSC console.
  2. Click in the upper left corner and select a region or project.
  3. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Security Management > Data Masking.
  4. On the Masking Templates tab page, click Create Masking Template and configure parameters. For details, see Table 1.

    Template Name

    Enter a template name.

    Description (Optional)

    Enter key information about the template.

    Associate Classification and Grading Template

    1. Select a built-in or custom template from the drop-down list. DSC displays data by level and category based on the template.
    2. Click Add and configure the following parameters:
      1. Category - Type: It corresponds to the level-2 category in the Built-in Identification Templates.
      2. Identification Rule: It corresponds to the rule name in Built-in Identification Templates.
      3. Sensitivity Level: A default value is used.
      4. Masking Rule: Select a masking type and algorithm. For details about the masking rules supported by DSC, see Configuring and Checking Static Masking Algorithms.

  5. Click Save. The masking template is created.

Related Operations

  • Copying a masking template: In the Operation column of a template, click Copy. A template with the name OriginalTemplateName_copy is generated.
  • Modifying a masking template: In the Operation column of a template, click Edit.
  • Deleting a masking template: In the Operation column of a template, click Delete.
