Multi-Chat Management

In traditional development, tasks in a project must be executed one by one. Only one task can be executed at a time, resulting in low efficiency. With the multi-chat management function, the system can execute multiple tasks at the same time, improving the overall development efficiency.

For a user, a maximum of five chats can be created concurrently across all tools (such as CodeArts Agent IDE and Visual Studio Code).

Mode

Multi-chat management is supported only for the vibe coding when Agent or a custom agent is selected.

Creating Multiple Chats

  1. Log in to CodeArts Agent IDE as instructed in Quick Start.
  2. At the bottom of the input box on the chat panel, choose Built-in > Agent to switch to the agent mode. The selected model is displayed on the right. You can select a model as required from the drop-down list.

    If the chat panel of CodeArts Agent is not displayed, click (Expand AI Sidebar) in the upper right corner of the top menu bar to open it.

  3. Create the first session.

    Type your task into the box, and click or press Enter to submit your request.

  4. While the first chat is ongoing, click in the upper right corner of the chat panel to open a new chat. The first chat will continue to run in the background.
  5. Create the second session.

    Type your task into the box, and click or press Enter to submit your request.

    A user can create and run a maximum of five chats concurrently across all tools (such as CodeArts Agent IDE and Visual Studio Code).

Viewing the chat progress

In the upper right corner of the chat panel, click . In the displayed recent chats, view their progress.

  • : The chat is running.
  • : The chat is waiting for user confirmation.
  • : The chat is completed.

Switching between chats

In the upper right corner of the chat panel, click . Click the name of the chat to be viewed.

Stopping a chat

  • Stopping the current session: Click in the lower right corner of the chat panel to stop the chat.
  • Stopping a background chat: In the recent chat list, click the target chat. Click in the lower right corner of the chat panel to stop the chat.

Deleting a chat

  1. In the upper right corner of the chat panel, click .
  2. Hover the cursor over next to the chat to be deleted and click Delete in the displayed list. A confirmation dialog box is displayed.
  3. Click OK to delete the chat.

    If the chat is removed from the recent chat list, it has been deleted.
