Quick Start

This section describes how to install CodeArts Agent IDE to quickly start intelligent coding.

Preparations

  • Before coding with CodeArts Agent IDE, apply for the open beta and purchase a package.
    1. Apply for the open beta. For details, see open beta application.
    2. After the OBT application is approved, subscribe to a CodeArts Agent package.

      CodeArts Agent is available in two editions: basic and professional. Select a proper edition based on your service requirements. For details about how to subscribe to a package, see subscription management.

  • Install a browser, such as Chrome.

    During IDE login, the system redirects you to a browser for account verification. To ensure a smooth process, deploy and configure an available browser in the Linux environment in advance.

Installing CodeArts Agent IDE

  1. Download the CodeArts Agent IDE installation package from the official website of CodeArts Agent.
  2. Double-click the package and complete the installation as prompted.

    If you need to install the package applicable to the Linux (ARM64) architecture and the double-click installation fails, you can install it using the command line.

    On the Linux terminal, navigate to the directory containing the installation package. Run the following command to perform installation: 
    sudo dpkg -i codearts-agent-linux-***-***.deb

  3. Log in to CodeArts Agent IDE and start intelligent coding.

    If this is the first time you use CodeArts Agent IDE, the welcome page will be displayed. Complete the configuration as prompted.

    1. On the welcome page, click Get Started. The import configuration page is displayed.
    2. Select Import from VS Code or Skip. In this example, click Skip.

      If you have created a project in Visual Studio Code, click Import from VS Code and import the project to CodeArts Agent IDE.

    3. Click Log In. The Huawei Cloud login page is displayed.
    4. Enter your account name and password and log in.

      After a message is displayed indicating that the login is authorized and successful, return to CodeArts Agent IDE.

    If this is not your first time to use CodeArts Agent IDE, log in by performing the following operations:

    1. Click Log In. The Huawei Cloud login page is displayed.
    2. Enter your account name and password and log in.

      Wait until the login is successful and then return to CodeArts Agent IDE.

  4. (Optional) Log out of CodeArts Agent IDE.

    To log out, click in the upper right corner of CodeArts Agent IDE and choose Log Out.

Creating or Opening a Project

After installing CodeArts Agent IDE, you can start your development in any of the following ways:

Importing a local folder: Import local project files to the IDE to quickly start development.

  1. In the upper left corner of the IDE, choose File > Open Project.

    You can also click Open Folder in the lower right corner on the chat panel of CodeArts Agent IDE.

  2. Select a local folder and open it in the IDE.

    If you are using the IDE for the first time, you need to select Yes, I trust the authors in the displayed dialog box to trust the folder and enable all functions.

Creating a project: Create a project from scratch and customize your development environment.

  1. In the upper left corner of the IDE, choose File > New > Create Project.
  2. Select a path for storing the project, enter the project name, and click OK.

    If you are using the IDE for the first time, you need to select Yes, I trust the authors in the displayed dialog box to trust the folder and enable all functions.

    The project name must start with a letter, and can contain a maximum of 64 characters. Letters, digits, hyphens (-), and underscores (_) are allowed.

Cloning a Git repository: Clone a remote repository using Git to easily continue developing an existing project.

  1. In the upper left corner of the IDE, choose File > New > Clone Repository.
  2. Enter the repository URL, select the local storage location of the repository, and click Clone.

    If the message "Could not connect to server" is displayed during the cloning process, resolve the issue as instructed in "Could not connect to server" Is Displayed When Cloning a Git Repository. Then perform the cloning again.

  3. Enter the username and password of the to-be-cloned repository as prompted and click Continue to clone it to the local host and open it in the IDE.
