Overall Process
The process of batch server migration using MgC consists of four phases: preparation, migration implementation, service verification, and service cutover, as shown in the following table.
| No. | Step | Description |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Preparation | Preparing accounts and permissions: Secure the source cloud platform's access key, the login credentials for the source servers, and the target account and permissions on the Huawei Cloud in advance. |
| Checking source server configuration: Verify that the source servers meet all migration requirements. | ||
| Preparing a server to install MgC Agent: Set up a Windows server within the source network environment as specified. | ||
| Creating a migration project: Before using MgC, create a migration project. For server migration, select an application migration project. | ||
| Surveying and evaluating the migration requirement: Assess the cloud servers and applications on the source platform to develop a tailored migration solution and batch plan.
| ||
| (Optional) Purchasing the target server: Acquire a Huawei Cloud target server in advance, based on the source server data gathered during the survey. | ||
| 2 | Migration implementation | Develop a migration plan and workflow based on the solution and batch plan, then initiate the migration. |
| 3 | Service verification | Verify whether the data on the target servers is consistent with that on the source servers and whether the applications and services can run properly. |
| 4 | Service cutover | Switch services from the source servers to the target servers on Huawei Cloud, and use the target servers to provide services for users. |
