Exchanging the Read/Write Private IP Addresses and Proxy Addresses of a TaurusDB Instance (OBT)
Scenarios
In database management, switching between direct connections to a DB instance and access through a proxy often requires frequent changes to connection addresses on the application side. This increases maintenance complexity and may cause workload interruptions. After a database proxy is created, TaurusDB allows you to exchange the instance's read/write private IP address with the database proxy address. After the exchange, applications previously connecting directly to the instance using its read/write private IP address will access it through the proxy, whereas applications previously accessing the instance through the proxy will directly connect to the instance. This allows you to switch between direct and proxy-based access without changing connection addresses on the application side. This address exchange feature simplifies maintenance and improves service reliability and flexibility without requiring any application modifications.
Constraints
- The read/write private IP address exchange feature is in the OBT phase. To use it, submit a service ticket.
- Instances with HTAP enabled do not support read/write private IP address exchange. Disable HTAP first.
- DB instances or proxy instances that use IPv6 do not support the read/write private IP address exchange feature.
- Read/write private IP address exchange is an asynchronous task. Brief interruptions lasting a few seconds may occur during execution, so perform the operation during off-peak hours.
- During an exchange, the current IP address is temporarily released and a new IP address is requested, posing a risk that the released IP address may be preempted by another user. Before proceeding, ensure that the subnet has sufficient idle IP addresses (as the operation will fail if there are insufficient addresses for the temporary allocation). Do not perform operations (such as creating instances, changing instance specifications, or modifying read/write private IP addresses) that occupy or request IP addresses during the exchange.
Procedure
- Log in to the TaurusDB console.
- On the Instances page, click the target instance name.
- In the navigation pane, choose Database Proxy, locate the target proxy instance, and choose More > Exchange Read/Write Private IP Address.
- In the displayed dialog box, confirm the information again, enter YES as prompted, and click OK. Figure 1 Exchange Read/Write Private IP Address
- The proxy instance status changes to Exchanging read/write private IP address. After a while, you can verify on the proxy instance list page that the proxy address has been exchanged with the instance's read/write private IP address.
