Configuration Dependency

The execution of Java programs—except for internally developed applications—typically relies on third-party open-source software. The Configuration Dependency described in this chapter involve installing the relevant packages and driver dependencies required for the transparent encryption and decryption functionality at runtime; this ensures that plugins can be loaded and invoked correctly, and prevents errors caused by missing components during application startup or data read/write operations.

Here are common ways to add dependencies:

  • Generally, place the bcprov-jdk18on-1.79.jar and encryption-proxy.jar files directly into the WEB-INF/lib directory of your web application; this method will suffice.
  • If the third-party JAR files required by the program are located in a separate directory, extract the ZIP archive downloaded from the Downloading the Encryption Plugin, then copy the two files – `bcprov-jdk18on-1.79.jar` and `encryption-proxy.jar` – to the third-party dependency directory of the business system service.
  • For a Spring Boot application where both the native code and its dependencies are contained within a single JAR file, you need to extract the ZIP archive downloaded from the Downloading the Encryption Plugin, then copy the two files – `bcprov-jdk18on-1.79.jar` and `encryption-proxy.jar` – into the `BOOT-INF/lib` directory of the JAR file.

Procedure

  1. Extract the ZIP archive downloaded from the Downloading the Encryption Plugin, then copy these three files into the same directory on your Windows host, e.g., D:\Application-Plugin Integration.
  2. Place the self-developed JAR file into the D:\Application-Plugin Integration directory. Right-click on the file, select Open With from the pop-up menu, and then choose WinRAR, as shown in Figure 1.

  3. The structure of the open self-developed package is shown in Figure 2.

  4. Double-click the BOOT-INF directory, then double-click the lib directory to view the dependency packages for the current in-house developed program, as shown in Figure 3.

  5. Click the left mouse button to extract the bcprov-jdk18on-1.79.jar file, which is located in the same directory; then drag the file to the WinRAR interface and release the left mouse button. In the pop-up Archive Name and Parameters settings, change the Compression Method to Store, then click OK (as shown in Figure 4). Repeat the same procedure to add the encryption-proxy.jar file.
