Extreme SSD V2 Disks (OBT)
Extreme SSD V2 disks deliver ultra-high IOPS, ultra-high throughput, and ultra-low latency. They are designed for latency-sensitive mission-critical applications and provide sustained IOPS performance.
You can buy Extreme SSD V2 disks of a given capacity with the IOPS tailored to your workloads. The disk capacity and performance are decoupled.

Extreme SSD V2 disks are now in the open beta test (OBT) only in the AP-Singapore region. You can submit a service ticket to apply for the OBT if needed.

Disk IOPS calculation formula |
You preconfigure an IOPS ranging from 100 to 256,000. This IOPS must also be less than or equal to 1,000 times the capacity. |
Disk throughput calculation formula |
≤ (Preconfigured IOPS/16) MiB/s |
Single-queue access latency |

Consideration
If you preconfigure over 128,000 IOPS or desire over 3,000 MiB/s peak throughput, you need to attach the Extreme SSD V2 disk to an AC7 instance.
Configuration
- Go to the Buy Disk page.
- Configure the disk parameters.
- Choose the Extreme SSD V2 type and enter a desired disk size.
- Configure a desired IOPS.
- Configure other parameters by referring to Purchasing an EVS Disk.
- Click Next.
- Check the disk details on the confirmation page.
- Confirm the information and click Submit. The system displays a message indicating request submitted successfully.
- Click Back to Disk List to return to the Elastic Volume Service page.
Performance Modification
If the disk performance no longer meets your service requirements, you can modify its IOPS by changing the disk type.
Billing
Both the capacity and IOPS of Extreme SSD V2 disks are billed on a pay-per-use basis.
The price of an Extreme SSD V2 disk consists of the capacity price + IOPS price.
Billing Examples
Suppose you purchased a 100-GiB Extreme SSD V2 disk with a preconfigured IOPS of 5,000.
The capacity unit price is $0.001153 per hour per GiB and the IOPS unit price is $0.00043 per hour per IOPS:
24 hours after purchasing the disk, you will be billed for $54.37 (Capacity charge + IOPS charge = 100 x 0.001153 x 24 + 5,000 x 0.00043 x 24 = 2.77 + 51.6 = 54.37).
