Why Is the Number of Stacked Messages in Consumer Offset Different from That in Monitoring?

Symptom

The Consumer Offset tab on the consumer group details page shows that messages are stacked in a topic. But the Consumer Available Messages on the consumer group monitoring page is inconsistent with that result.

Conclusion

Number of stacked messages = Latest offset – Offset. The Latest Offset and Offset on the Consumer Offset tab page uses data sampled at the same time. Whereas on the consumer group monitoring page, these metrics are sampled at an interval of 1 to 2s. As a result, the message stack within the interval cannot be reflected.
