Environment Overview
An environment is a collection of basic compute (such as cluster and ECS), network (such as ELB and EIP), and middleware (such as DCS and RDS) resources, used for component deployment and running. ServiceStage combines multiple basic resources into an environment, including development, test, pre-production, and production environments. Managing resources, and creating and deploying components by environment simplify O&M management.
For details about components, see Component Overview.
Environment Type Description
Table 1 lists the environments supported by ServiceStage. For details, see Component Deployment Modes.
Environment Type |
Description |
---|---|
VM |
Applicable to VM-based deployment. Components are deployed on ECSs or custom servers using software packages. |
Kubernetes |
Applicable to container-based deployment. Components are deployed using container images and scheduled by Kubernetes. ServiceStage allows you to create HA and non-HA Kubernetes environments.
|
VM + Kubernetes |
The environment type is VM + Kubernetes if clusters, ECSs, custom servers, and AS groups are managed in the environment at the same time. This is applicable to creating and deploying components based on VMs or containers in the same environment. |
Environment Management Process
Figure 1 shows the environment management process. You need to determine the type of the environment to be created based on the component deployment mode, create the environment, and manage the basic resources of the environment.
