Breaking Down R&D Requirements

R&D requirements are classified into initial requirements (IRs), SRs (system requirements), and ARs (allocated requirements), which correspond to level 1, level 2, and level 3 respectively. IRs can be broken down into SRs, and SRs can be broken down into ARs. AR is the minimum unit of R&D requirements and cannot be further broken down.

Prerequisites

  • A project has been created.
  • An R&D requirement has been created.

Procedure

  1. In the R&D requirement list, click in the row where the requirement to be broken down is located. The Break Down Subrequirements dialog box is displayed.

  2. Enter the child requirement information.

Click to expand and configure more information.

  3. Click OK. The requirement is broken down.

The method of breaking down into ARs is the same as that of breaking down into SRs. An AR can be duplicated, but cannot be broken down.

After the breakdown, the states of parent R&D requirements will be rolled up to the states of child R&D requirements.

If you break an IR into an SR and change the state of the SR, the change will be synchronized to the IR.

If you break the SR into an AR and change the state of the AR, the change will be synchronized to the SR and the IR.
