Managing LakeFormation Functions

You can view, modify, authorize, and delete LakeFormation functions.

Prerequisites

You have created a function. For details, see Creating a Function.

Managing Functions

  1. Log in to the LakeFormation console.
  2. Select the target LakeFormation instance from the drop-down list box on the left and choose Metadata > Function.
  3. In the upper right corner, select a catalog and database from the Catalog and Database drop-down lists. View the functions contained in the selected database.

  4. Perform the following operations on a function.

Viewing Function Details

In the function list, click the name of the function that you want to view.

Modifying Function Information

  • Method 1: In the function list, locate a function and click Modify in the Operation column. On the displayed page, configure parameters and click Submit.
  • Method 2: In the function list, click the name of the function to be modified, click Edit. On the displayed page, configure parameters and click Submit.

The catalog and database of a function cannot be changed.

Viewing the Existing Permissions of a Function

In the function list, locate a function and click View Permissions in the Operation column to view the existing permissions of the function.

Authorizing a Function

  • Method 1: In the function list, locate a function and click Authorize in the Operation column. In the displayed dialog box, configure the entity type, object to be authorized, operation type.
  • Method 2: In the function list, locate a function and click View Permissions in the Operation column. On the displayed page, click Authorize to authorize the function.

Deleting a Function

  1. In the function list, locate a function and click Delete in the Operation column.
  2. Confirm the operation impact and click OK.

    If files are also deleted when metadata is deleted, the metadata is moved to the recycle bin (OBS path lake-formation-trash-dir/table_id) of the corresponding OBS bucket.
