What Are the Differences Between a Resource Account and a Cloud Account in the Unified Accounting Model?

In the Landing Zone solution, a resource account is the minimum unit for resource isolation. These accounts are used for managing enterprise resources and ensuring security.

An enterprise master can create and associate with resource accounts through Organizations. Resource accounts cannot be used for transactions on Huawei Cloud, but cloud accounts can.

Table 1 lists the differences between a resource account and a cloud account in the unified accounting model.

Sharing resource packages	-	An enterprise master can enable resource package sharing with their associated resource accounts. After an enterprise master enables resource package sharing, their associated unified accounting members can enjoy resource packages of their enterprise master by default. If an enterprise master disables the sharing of resource packages, unified accounting members associated with the enterprise master after the disablement cannot enjoy resource packages of the enterprise master. However, member accounts associated with the enterprise master before the disablement will not be affected. An enterprise master can specify which member accounts can enjoy their resource packages. Once the sharing of resource packages takes effect at the specified time, members can enjoy resource packages of their associated enterprise masters. If a member uses resource packages an hour earlier than the specified effective time of resource package sharing, the usage will still be counted towards the resource package usage of their associated master.	An enterprise master can enable resource package sharing with their associated unified accounting members. After an enterprise master enables resource package sharing, their associated unified accounting members can enjoy resource packages of their enterprise master by default. If an enterprise master disables the sharing of resource packages, unified accounting members associated with the enterprise master after the disablement cannot enjoy resource packages of the enterprise master. However, member accounts associated with the enterprise master before the disablement will not be affected. A member account can only use their enterprise master's resource packages after their own resource packages have been used up. An enterprise master can specify which member accounts can enjoy their resource packages. Once the sharing of resource packages takes effect at the specified time, members can enjoy resource packages of their associated enterprise masters. If a member uses resource packages an hour earlier than the specified effective time of resource package sharing, the usage will still be counted towards the resource package usage of their associated master.
Coupons	-	Cash coupons are not issued to resource accounts.	Cash coupons are not issued to cloud accounts associated with an enterprise master account. Cash coupons generated before a cloud account is associated with an enterprise master account can only be applied to bills that are generated before the association.
Cost management	-	You can perform operations, such as tracking budget use, monitoring exceptions, and viewing cost recommendations in Billing Center with a resource account. You cannot purchase savings plans with a resource account. If you log in to the Cost Center with a resource account, you will not be able to see the functions related to purchasing savings plans.	You can perform operations, such as tracking budget use, monitoring exceptions, and viewing cost recommendations in Billing Center with a cloud account. If you disassociate from your enterprise master account, you can only manage costs generated after the disassociation.
Closing accounts	-	An enterprise master can close resource accounts through Organizations. You cannot close your own resource account in My Account.	An enterprise master cannot close their associated cloud accounts. You can close your own cloud accounts in My Account.
